Hi,

Would you have recommendation based on price/quality for a LTE router compatible with Cell C's LTE radio waves ?

Thank you !

My Huawei router B525-04A7. Suddenly for no reason I can discover, but it will not accept my password (not for my desktop, laptop or Kindle). I have tried every password I have used over years and nothing helps. I have also tried admin.

It will work using a LAN cable

How do I fix this.

Thanks

Log in via the LAN cable, check if the WI-Fi interface is enabled, and if so, you can check the password, is, under security settings, is a start.

Hey all

I am looking for a decent router to cover all my basis. Going to go with Telkom, will this do?
TP-Link MR400
https://www.tp-link.com/za/home-networking/3g-4g-router/archer-mr400/#overview

How do I know if the router includes 4x4MIMO and carrier aggregation? Sorry, super nooby at wireless.
I'd preferbely like the option to use 4x4MIMO or B40+B40 if needed, depending on the situation as I know you can use both together but I'd like the option to switch between whichever

Speaking of, can you change bands with a TP-Link? I know the huawei requires an outside tool

I have it I bought it last year November and it was working great on all networks, on Rain and Cell C. It is written on the box but they say it's MU-MIMO for 2x the performance so I guess it's not 4x4 but 2x2 maybe?!, such things confuse me. What I can tell you is that it performs well but people reported network cuts and I had not experienced them until after some time. I think TP-Link is lost as to what they should fix, it's really amazing but we are still waiting for that firmware that will sort out the network issues.

I recently bought a Huawei B618 while I'm waiting for TP-Link to fix the issue and it's not as great as the Archer AC1350 MR400 though it has 4x4 MIMO. I bought it for not having network cuts but the speeds are just disappointing on Rain Mobile, I will test it on Cell C next weekend. I think I should do comparison of both routers on Cell C and Rain, though I am not a gamer but a streamer. As for changing bands well I haven't see such an option but you can check this out https://www.tp-link.com/za/support/faq/2292/ though it's not like with Huawei where you get your only specific frequency running. I am not a technical person so forgive me if I am not too helpful.

Speaking of Telkom, I think it will work well since they run on TDD-LTE network and the router supports them https://www.tp-link.com/za/home-networking/3g-4g-router/archer-mr400/#specifications

Does anyone here know how to rig a modem that has no WAN port to connect to a fibre ONT and have an internet connection? A Telkom technician set up a non-wan port modem as our first fibre modem a few years ago and I can't figure out how he got it to work.

Hi guys.

A quick question...
Huawei B525 or ZTE MF286C?
I see the ZTE has a battery as well which would come in handy during loadshedding.
Also, RAIN 4G should work on both these right?

Does anyone know if there are any places allowed to sell LTE routers during lockdown? Not sure if it falls part of essentials goods, need to get one

I do believe that Vodacom will deliver to you, you do need to buy online tho. You do not have to get SIM with order either. MTN, Cell-C, Telkom should also sell, just do not know what their procedure would be. Friday lockdown might even have stores open, not sure tho.

Thanks for the info much appreciated

Perhaps this is going against the title of the thread, but are there any LTE modems available in South Africa that are just modems and not also routers and WiFi APs? I already have a router and AP, and ideally I would like to get an LTE modem that I could plug into the WAN port of the router. Does such a thing exist?

Not that I'm aware of. Closest would be an LTE usb modem plugged into your router. Second option is to get a Mikrotik with a minipci slot with a modem and disable the router features.

Hi,
has anybody managed to get a D-Link DWR-M921 to work on Cell-C Connecta Flexi LTE network?
There are some fields in the mobile data setup that I do not know what to fill in. I am using a ZTE MF927U at the moment.
The D-Link has a dial number but nothing like that on ZTE. Do I leave that at the default *99#?

From what I have found on the internet:
Username and password leave blank
APN seems to be lte.broadband.is
Authentication CHAP
But some links say set to !PV4 but nothing like that on the mobile broadband page setup page on the D-Link.

If you have got a D-Link running Cell-C LTE please let me know what you've done.
Thanks
Hans
