3G/HSPA/LTE Routers

For myself, it was a matter of putting in the SIM card, switching on setting up and forget about it ... , it just keeps on working ... , also not felt yhe need to go looking for an LTE version ...
 
I was considering getting one as a package from Poynting but it's a fraction expensive. Do you have an antenna running out of your modem?

Huawei B683. It's the best I've used by far, it just works.

I see from your link that one is only capable of 150Mbps wifi N speeds. The Huawei is capable of 300Mbps Wifi N transmission. It may not have LTE but it has a claimed maximum speed of 28Mbps HSPA+.

Thanks Romito. I'd prefer an LTE router though. I think I may have to contact Afrihost to hear if it will work.
 
Is anyone aware of a 3G router with the following features:
- At least 1 ethernet port (2 would be great)
- Preferably NO wifi
- Small & light
- NAT / Virtual Server functionality

warning to users: This router (AF23) DOES NOT work with the Telkom LTE USB Rotator Model E3276, which I think is the only USB LTE Modem sold by Telkom. I have repeatedly tried via Huawei to establish what the problem is, but apart from several suggestions to update firmware etc (which did not help) they were pretty useless and uninterested. Telkom have no idea what you're talking about so don't even bother trying to get technical assistance from them. I was burnt R799 so hopefully I can save someone money and a lot of time/trouble. One would imagine (hope?) that a Huawei product would be compatible with another Huawei product, particularly when this is stated to be the case. Personally, and despite Huawei scoffing at my opinion, I believe they do not work because Telkom uses a completely different and unique LTE frequency band, swimming upstream as usual.

AFAIK, the Telkom E3276 is one of the HiLink models (therefore it appears to the system as a router with a web interface, and not a modem).

Have you tried flashing it with one of the non-HiLink firmwares?

AFAIK, TP-Link 4G routers with the latest firmware work even with HiLink modems (and much cheaper than AF23). But if you can convert HiLink to Normal, then it will [-]definitely[/-] much more likely work.

EDIT: TP-Link routers can also be flashed with ROOter firmware for even more functionality (including HiLink support).

IMHO you will always be better off with non-HiLink.

I personally use a non-HiLink E3276s-920 with a TP-Link router and Telkom LTE.

Anybody out there looking for a DOVADO 4 GR router, and a Huawei E367 supported modem, has an external ant connection.

I use the HiLink E3276 with a Dovado Tiny available here in SA. Got mine through Amazon UK though since then it was the only option.

And it works great. Much better than TP-Link with new firmware.

I just got one from UK unlocked, can`t get it to work, after install the 8ta sim keep display: Limited service, i did try to change settings, with no avail, also got the Huawei 525 works like 100%

Price is impressive for battery powered device and WiFi AP 20 users is more than sufficient, but are you sure it is 3G/ADSL modem?
Please post with list of connectors (USB/LAN) and description.
Edit: Not 3G modem - so you are in wrong thread, but it accept many modems, also Ethernet socket can work in WAN mode (for DSL modem) or LAN for wired connection. They have even basic Web site: http://www.whizzyworld.co.za/

It's 3G only, not ADSL.

It has neither 3G nor ADSL modem built-in. However RJ45 socket works in dual - WAN or LAN mode, so if you have ADSL modem it will perform routing for this interface as well (the same as for USB 3G modem). So you can have two Internet connections (not necessary simultaneously).
I like RJ45 feature, its very universal - for any occasion.
