3G on Virgin - SOON!!!

If you don't believe me here is a screenshot taken off my phone 5 mins ago. Still 3g

Didn't say I didn't believe you, I just said that Virgin Mobile is just Cell C with a different badge.
All I see in the screenshot is a G for GPRS.

Just checked my girlfriends phone and she's on 3g too. Virgin but on Vodacom network

I'll check and see, because I can also see the 3G networks but you aren't able to connect with 3G over them.

EDIT: Yep, nothing like I said before. Sticking to EDGE to save on power.

I manage to find my virgin sim.....put it on...switched onto Vodacom 3G than like lighting got kicked out!

Same here. Found my Virgin sim, switched to 3G only, and then manual search on my phone for Vodacom 3G but couldn't use it. And, yes, I am in a very good reception area for Vodacom 3G

Same thing I've done, somebody actually needs to do a speed test as I ain't seeing it.

I haven't been able to get on anymore since Sunday evening

hello i wonder if any one could help,i purchased a 3g virgin mobile modem in Australia i was hoping i could use it in SA I tried putting in a vodacom sim but it wont pick up any network,i have yet to try a cell c or virgin sim,i was told in Australia to unlock it over there i would have to put in 99$,any idea to unlock it here and what network it could possibly work on?thanks

This morning my phone went a bit bonkers with switching networks... suddenly got the 3G logo, and the network said "Virgin 3G". It switched back and forth between the two for a few minutes, before settling back to the usual Edge connection.

This is in Sandton. So it looks like Virgin was doing a bit of testing.

EDIT:
Just happened to look at my phone, and it was back on Virgin 3G.

Lucky you! Should be happening very soon with CellC's 3G launch this month

cell c have started their launch phase, its only a matter of time before virgin gets 3G!

No news on the Virgin front :'( Virign would be a great operator when it comes to value for money (sms packages) if they just had their data network sorted out.

I agree, but I think 60c per megabyte is too much (even for out-of-bundle charges). If they could also sell data bundles at competitive prices I'm sure a lot more people will use Virgin mobile. Guessing they don't have the infrastructure at the moment?
