Hey guys I'm needing some help with your opinions on the best 4mb uncapped packages.

I'm currently on iSat 4mb uncapped and hating it. I'm tired of the throttling and lack of service.

What are your opinions on the best packages/shaping/throttling etc.

I'm not a really heavy down loader, about 25gbs a month and iSat is constantly bringing down my speeds and over charging me and I'm sick of it!

Any help would be appreciated, thanks mense :D

25gb, just get 50gb capped then, but if ou have decent uncapped you will probably download more so go for openweb gold.

I can't afford gold 4mb, it's R738 excl Line, I need both including. Otherwise I would go that route :(

Uncapped will always have a worse contention ratio than capped. I agree with the first poster, rather get a massive data account and monitor it loosely rather than an uncapped account. Be more selective of what you download, be on the lookout for specials from WebAfrica or Afrihost.

That's what I thought too. I got a (generous) capped account from Afrihost, and the speed was absolutely shocking. It would sometimes take a movie 20 hours to download from iTunes. Now, iTunes downloads are hardly representative of average traffic, but I found also that my latency was really high, and pages would time out while loading. And no, this wasn't during a Seacom outage :)

I switched to Mweb uncapped, and not only do I have more bandwidth, but it's a LOT faster. This might not be true for everyone, but the point is that you won't know without trying different ISPs (and accounts) and seeing for yourself.

I should add that I've found Mweb quite slow during office hours. That isn't an issue for me since I'm generally at work, but if you need quick week day downloading it might not work for you...

Hi Tero

PM me your contact details and I will get one of our sales consultants to contact and assist you with our various ADSL packages.

Kind regards
MWEB Guy

I play Crysis 2 online and WoW on a daily basis but only for about 2 hours or so.

@Mweb Guy, I've just sent a Call Me Back ticket on the Mweb site but thanks for the reply :)

I'm pretty keen on moving to Mweb uncapped 4mb, I hear only good things. Been looking around for a while now and I'm not liking what I see on the IS backbone... May be placing an order very soon :)

Thanks for the advice Optimal01.. 4Mbps Gold Uncapped - Data Account Only. Price: R738 hrm!
Considering the uncapped 4Mbps from Mweb is R539, thats R199 difference. I think i need more convincing :)

The Gold accounts have less shaping and better contention ratios than the normal uncapped accounts.

Well try out MWeb and if it's good enough stick with it, if you're unimpressed then move to OpenWeb Gold for a month and see if it's worth the difference.

MWeb actually let you run a test account for their uncapped so you could try that while you run Gold for a month to compare?

How do you go about getting this test account, so as to try out the speed?
