Erm, averaging ~63KB/sec on that download!!! :( I didn't think I was one of those stuck at 512.

This may have been answered on this thread, but those of you stuck at 512 - did you find that every single download of yours was capped at 512 (including local speed tests like speedtest.net) or was it only international?

Certain international downloads for me stuck at 512. I do get full speed on a few international http downloads.

speedtest.net is fine, check my test a few posts back.

International not that good.Using Speakeasy is as follows:
Washington Down 594kbs/s Up 267 kbs/s
Seattle Down 805 kbs/s Up 157kbs/s
Best I have ever had was Seattle 872kbs/s dwn and 295 up

OK...w00tness :D

I went to the shops, got back and my line seems to be fixed (like quite a few of you guys - yatta!!!!!)

Still synching @ 4096/512 *awsome!! :D*

Getting slowspeeds from RS.com but it seems to be RS :-/
Got 460KB/s from nvidia.com with IDM :D

lets hope our lines now stay like this or get better :)

I also never even logged a fault or anything...guess im lucky.

In the Bryanston BTW :D

Oh dear. Looks like I've got the same problem:

Line Stats:

Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin:
27.0 15.0 db

Line Attenuation:
20.5 9.5 db

Data Rate:
4096 384 kbps

But I'm getting 40-55KB/s download speeds.

This is in Midrand; today is the first time this month that I've done any serious downloading, so the problem could have started a few days ago.

Where and what are you downloading?

International or local?

Local and International are both borked. International: easynews (with a download manager); Local: various speed tests and local mirrors.

This now sounds like "Bandwidth Shedding" - Mine is also fine now but other forumites' lines are now starting to act up.

Eish, sterkte mense.

Did you have to go through a lengthy `discussion' with TELKOM to resolve the issue, or did the problem rectify itself? The thought of having to waste hours explaining this to the ADSL helpdesk is not very pleasant....

No, I came from campus at 21:15 last night and all was back to normal. Don't waste your time - I went through that process with no joy, only frustration.

Technician phoned me as well, all sorted now, apparently something to do with the ESS connection (sic) being set to default to 512 not 4096.
