Why would you use a company asset to download non company related SW?
Although these are valid questions/points. Don't you think that MTN should be accountable for their blatant attempt to rob people via the OOB rates (i.e. hiding something that maybe 10% of people will pick-up) ? To me it's criminal ... full stop.
Autopage.
This is a different scenario.
The company has an agreement with AP.
Does the company fight on behalf of the employee and not pay it? What happens when AP decide to cut off all the lines until payment is received?
I'm not sure on the designation of the op within his company but if the CEO finds out why his lines been locked, who do you think he blames?
It's foolish behavior by the employee regardless of the circumstances. Refund or no refund, it's risky to abuse company assets.

It has nothing to do with the OP's company he works for or what assets he used.. if he was using his private phone, he would be in jail for not be able to pay it . GET IT ?

Greetings. On the 25 of December 2013, I received a sms on my work phone, stating I had loyalty points. I had never used these points before and was curious what I could purchase with them. I purchased a 24 hour uncapped data bundle and received a sms confirming my purchase. I then proceeded to download, various learning and entertainment media. e.g. Top 100 Ted talks, Bash scripting, Kano OS Alpha image, etc.
I retain to work and receive a high data usage alert from our secretary at work for an unpaid amount of 42,226.74 :wtf: Final bill is 67000.00 including vat.
After explaining the situation to Autopage and sending them proof that I purchased the data bundle they have refused to re-rate the dataMy company has paid the amount.
I now owe my company the money and will be paying them back for the next three years, while earning a grand sum of less than R300, after deductions, rent and debt orders. I don't live an extravagant life style. One of my debit orders is to legal wise, They have drafted a letter on my behalf and sent it to Auto page but they(Auto page) has not responded. Big corporate is not sympathetic either. I have been told to, shut my mouth and be grateful I still have a job...
I have been on a roller coaster ride of shame, hope, anger, disappointment... and im still going...
I am pleading to the users of mybroadband for advise.
I can't give you legal advice but I'll tell you this...(if you have to pay) you can either let this bring you down for the next few years and be depressed or you can go into this with the mindset that you will pay it back and come out better (ie get a better job/improve your skills/create your own opportunities), I admit I don't know your situation but I hope it helps.
Surely honesty would require the OP to state that he didn't bother informing himself of the Ts&Cs of the special offer and therefore failed to comply with them. His unfortunate situation is the consequence of his negligence.Go to hellopeter and state your case, direct, honest and appropriately. Don't do any name calling or ranting.
First try a complaint about Autopage. See what happens.
Then one about MTN.
Don't accept no for an answer. Be persistent.
You can also lodge a complaint with the National Consumer Commission.
You could even try ICASA. I once faxed them a complaint and about a month later they actually phoned me back to follow up. By that time I had already resolved my complaint myself, but maybe they can do something for you.
All of the best. Please come back to this thread to keep us updated.
Why on earth did the company pay?!?
