JFGI (leet converter) and figure out what is says...
@78bizkit
I kind of werked it out by miself thank you.
"Dude your way of talking us confusing and blah, blah, blah..."
Is that a bit beter, vodacom3g?
Right back to subject.
My card's 3.6 enabled and my signal strength is always on 1 bar or nothing and depending on what I download I get a constant +-200KB/s.
So that's 1600kb/s?
Have you tried to take a reading outdoors? Seems you have marginal coverage.
Normally an external antenna will work wonders in such a case.
Unless there is only one HSPA base-station in your area, it is still possible that the base-station you have been connected to, is 7.2, while the techies might have assumed you're connected to a different base-station that is still being upgraded or something.Omg, vodacom???
So I got a reply on my complaint that I made last week that I was not seeing any speeds greater than 3.6 after buying a VBBA 2gb package.
Last week there were a number of people from vodacom that confirmed the tower in my area is 7.2. Then they eventually said they will send some1 out to check. Now they call me and say that the tower has actually not been upgraded yet and that they will refund me the difference in price between the 2 packages.
Can you believe this..... Are they lying to us, or they just dont have a clue whats going on? And I wasnt only dealing with the call centre people, I was dealing directly with the technicians/network guys or who ever they are.
For me, if they were prepaired to refund the difference that says something is not right. Anyways, Im glad about the refund, but I still would like to really see speeds of 3.6 - 7.2 soon
1600kb/s is correct
I get better signal (i think -75db) outdoors when I move closer a particular tower in the vicinity. Im kinda thrust in the middle of about three. External ant., hmmm, don't have the dosh right now.Any freebies from VC given our recent problems with reception and dropping of connections?

For this company, i would DEFINITELY recommend getting a BBA 20GB bundle on contract SIM, resulting in the cheapest OOBR in the country.
The contract refreshes at the beginning of the month, and no matter if it runs out, they will STILL only pay 19c per MB OOBR.
Where are you?
No problem, but you know this topic have been discussed a lot over the last few years and you've been active in those threads.
As posted many times before, 1.8, 3.6 and 7.2 refers to the type of technology your modem must support to be able to receive the service.
So to get the HSDPA 7.2 service, your modem must support the correct modulation schemes for it. Typically the only way you'll know this is to look at the manufacturers specifications who will list it as 7.2.
As a crude analogy, when you buy a BMW 325, the name does not carry any indication of speed or power output. Higher numbers tend to indicate more advanced products (a 540 is a higher spec than a 316) but the number itself does not carry performance specifications, at best capacity.
So just like you get a BMW 318, 325 or 528, you get 3G, HSDPA 1.8, HSDPA 3.6 and HSDPA 7.2 products.
It's a product name, not a speed.
Again, Vodacom does not make speed claims for any of it's products, nor is it allowed to. The ASA stopped all networks from making 'up to' type of claims a few years ago.
Hope this clears it up for you.
And, just one more time
BB-A is all about a flat-rate tariff, not about getting a higher speed.
Fact is, 3.6 sounds surprisingly like 3.6 Mbps, 7.2 like 7.2 Mbps, not so?
Don't you mean 26c per MB?
GotTrend , I dont believe anybody in P.E is getting any better than 3.6 at the moment . I will be waiting a while before I upgrade to equipment that will give me 7.2 (true) speed, as my E220 modem is already 7.2 capable , but cant nearly get 7.2 , the best I can get when I am about 100 metres away from the microwave tower is 3.3 (which is fast enough for me)
But like you say the towers in P.E. have too much backhaul , hence our speeds getting throttled .
Once connected you get a little pop-up window off the bottom tool-bar which should tell you what your modem is "capable of doing" 3,6mb/s or 7,2mb/s.
