A week with Apple ...

It’s a default sort date Oldest to Newest. I want Newest to Oldest, just like they have in the Albums. Nothing more.

But it is Newest to Oldest.

Newest always at the bottom where it opens by default.

Aaah it seems you are correct it’s not on the swipe options even though it’s mentioned there.

Wonder if the underlying account maybe doesn’t support it.

Not in the habit of deleting mail with regularity.
Are you guys speaking about Gmail ? Because Swipe to Bin exists?
Same as on the default Mail Client

All I want to do is delete a mail in at least time as possible. Yea, a few clicks and scrolls can do it but I want to swipe to do it away (delete)

You can do this in the default mail app. You have to change two settings:

Mail -> Accounts -> Gmail -> Account -> Advanced -> Move Discarded Messages to

Then:

Mail -> Swipe Options -> Move Message:

Here it is in the Mail app:

if you're using Gmail the settings are in the app as per @Pho3nix post, the same if you're using Spark email client.

Nope don’t use Gmail, because you can’t go up and down from one email to the next.

And it’s missing from Mail, but I am also on iOS 16.

****

Okay I see it never actually gets called Delete but just Move message in line with the other settings changes.

I never use the swipe functions as they simply don’t add up in my brain and I always go the wrong way and then just end up ****ing around instead of helping.

Left-handed thing I guess.

This is the mail app on iOS 16. Where are you seeing this behavior ?

Edit : After testing seems this is on Gmail only to send things to the Archive folder. Personal domains all allow deleting from swiping

Yeah seems it took a while to update to Delete instead of Move after changing it in the Google advanced settings.

Will never use it anyway as I don’t use the Inbox view much and would delete stuff from the email itself instead.

I have it set to delete with a long swipe in both directions, no way to feck up that way.

Thank you!

This Mail issue was driving me up the wall. Not what I’d call ‘easy’, ‘logistical’ or even ‘just works’ - but finally works

A logistical nightmare…hope it is over soon.

Probably not.

Like, did you know that Google Photos offers more functionality on Android as opposed to iPhone?

iPhone can’t stabilise videos

I really did not know that, wow, it is terrible.

I know right?

Local developers, Google, Mark Zuckerberg… I hear they’re all trying to sabotage Apple by making inferior apps. :/

How do you transfer a zip or exe file via Bluetooth from a iPhone to a windows PC

Why would you want to transfer files via Bluetooth? The Bluetooth protocol is beyond slow. Use a cable.

Not that slow these days .

Send a client some files via whatsapp , he will download later onto his PC , he is without internet connection later .
No Itunes on Windows PC .

We thought all good , just connect via bluetooth , and share like any Android phone .

Not on Apple

First thing if he already has an iPhone would be to dump the Windows PC and get a Macbook.

Realistically speaking you’d have to use a cable. iPhone to Mac, use Airdrop. Otherwise, cable.

Edit: Not going to lie, sometimes it does get annoying if you want to send a photo or something to the pc quickly.

If sending files via Bluetooth is a major consideration factor for your phone purchase, rather avoid the iPhone completely.

Before I made the full transition to Apple I had to look at what was important to me on my smartphone and file transfers were not that big of a deal as often times I would be emailing what I want to send or sending it via WhatsApp. I had already been using an iPad+Android phone for years so I already knew the limitations I had to deal with in some aspects, and the “special” way Apple do things.

If you are in the Apple ecosystem (iPhone, Watch, iPad, Mac etc…) you will have a good time, but if you start introducing other ecosystems/OSs, Apple don’t like polygamy (unless it’s their own), you cannot just be JZ-ing your way in and out of stuff here, the Apple ecosystem is not Nkandla!

The one mistake you don’t want to make is trying to use an iPhone like it’s an Android phone, either accept that it simply is not an Android or rather buy an Android. Yes there are some “Android-esque” features Apple are adding but as you can see they are done in an Apple-esque manner, iOS will never be Android and vice versa.
