Hi All

After lots of persistance I eventually manged to get Telkom to move my line from a 4mb deslam to a 10mb deslam

When the tech from Telkom was at my house I checked the modem stats and it said that the line was now syncing at 8mb. Also MAX RATE was 10MB.

Now since yesterday the line is syncing at 10MB and the MAX RATE is now 15MB ??????

Is this the TPlink modem that has gone haywire or is there something else wrong?

ADSL Firmware Version : FwVer:3.11.2.175_TC3086 HwVer:T14.F7_6.0
Line State : Showtime
Modulation : ADSL2 PLUS
Annex Mode : ANNEX_A

Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin : 8.5 5.8 db
Line Attenuation : 35.0 21.0 db
Data Rate : 10015 1011 kbps
Max Rate : 14208 1012 kbps
POWER : 16.0 11.3 dbm
CRC : 20 0

Thanks

Your modem probably switched between G.DMT modulation (limited to 8Mbps) and ADSL2+ modulation (limited at 24Mbps).

The max attainable rate is inversely proportional to the attenuation on your line. Check if your attenuation has gone down drastically. It could be that Telkom replaced some bad copper or fixed some bad connections, resulting in your copper quality improving and your attenuation to drop.

Also, could be firmware and/or hardware upgrades on the DSLAM, which will enable faster speeds with newer technologies.
