Telkom is bumping up the upload speeds of its DSL 4Mbps subscribers

went to a customer yesterday to do ADSL self-install - do 1 (384/128).

plugged in the router - oopsie - syncing at 8096/768! with snr of 6.0 - oopsie

obviously speed test confirms just a 384kbps transfer - telkom is slipping a bit doing what they are required to do....thus i had to listen to the !@$@! music again.

last week - same thing - do1 , 2048/708 - snr 6.0 ...their steps of installation/activiation really is not standard and sad.

I have a 4Mbps line and my upload speed is 640Kbps, but my downstream speed is about 800Kbps.

Some people on the MyADSL forums suggested that it is my DS noise on the line and that could be due to a faulty kopper line to my house, so I've reported it to Telkom and they say that they haven't found anything wrong.

I'm using a D-Link DSL-504T router and have updated the firmware yesterday, but that didn't help either.

Sigh!

Is there anyway to find out how many subscribers there are on the 384, 512, 4meg, and then compare them? I'm willing to bet that the majority of the customers are spread between the 384 and the 512 which is why Telkom is so reluctant to upgrade them. It would mean too much effort

I've ordered dsl so many times.. Telkom has never billed me, so after 6 months it gets cuts off, and telkom tell me that I canceled it 2 weeks before it actually got installed..
oh and when i did order, i ordered 384 and always got 512k.. lets hope for the best, Just got off the phone with telkom and lets hope my 4Mb line is gonna be awesome

Link Status: Up
Upstream Speed: 512 kbps
Downstream Speed: 4096 kbps

Haven't done any uploading yet to see what the diffs is.
