Hi everyone.

I bought a samsung UA40EH5000 40 inch LED tv in July 2012 and for some reason it just will not turn on
(4 days after warranty expiration go figure)

I've tried it in different plugs but no light and no response when using remote or button on tv(no red light at all)

Can anyone reccommend a good repair place in Cape Town?

Or is it just not worth repairing?

opened it up and had a look but the ceramic fuses are still pure white. no signs of burns. also tried a different power cord but no joy.

would you happen to know how much the replacement cost is?(ballpark)

Check out this thread, looks like the same model as yours and also died a few days out of warranty!
FYI, a place called Liptronics in Parow process warranty repairs (the Samsung store referred them). They said they would likely be able to repair under warranty. I'll feedback here once I know more.

I know it's not a TV, but when a power surge took out my samsung microwave, the repair place charged me something ridiculous like R180 to fix it. So even if warranty doesn't cover, it shouldn't be too bad.

turns out it was power supply...cost R800 to fix. thanks for the advice everyone

its a week out of warranty sadly
Sadly you did not read my post properly. My cousins LED (same model as yours) was 10 days out of warranty (purchased in June 2012) and Liptronics fixed it under warranty. They are the agents that Samsung Canal Walk use for warranty claims.
