Afrihost ADSL connecting problems

Morning Guys

So this is the story - Telkom did not allocate enough IP addresses from the MTN range to be able to allow everyone to authenticate properly. It's being resolved now, we expect absolutely everyone to be fixed and sorted out by midday today.

For now you can use the @afrihost.co.za to @afrigamer.co.za username change to get immediately online. This workaround will stay in place until 5pm today, by which time these problems should be entirely resolved.

We are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks for the heads up! I also could not connect but using my free FNB gigs now :D

Thanks. @afrigamer.co.za working great.

Should have warned us last night.

Thought i was having two "BLUE MONDAYS" in the same week.

I can only imagine what a late night it was for the lads from MTN, Afrihost and Telkom, well done guys, and we cant really complain they have been informing us about the move for weeks now! Small hiccups are to be expected, thanks for the updates and the sms telling us to use the afrigamer.co.za to log in!

Afrihost, you guys are idiots. We all warned you about this when you announced it.

I swear, if I don't get my service back today I will enact your money back guarantee. Of that you can be certain.

Hahahaha please show where the specific telkom issue was warned about?

This has nothing to do with MTN, it was Telkom's issue.

I agree. However, if there is a hiccup or two do not resort to the blame game. Rather apologise and resolve the glitches asap.
It was escalated to the highest level at Telkom - they said it couldn't be done any faster, but the techies found a way and we are pushing as fast as we can.

Almost there now ;)

Everything working fine on my 2 lines (work + personal). 2 colleagues also say it's working fine on their lines. So far everything is OK, but my SpeedTest.net results are all over the place.

EDIT: OK it seems the MTN Business SpeedTest.net server is performing poorly. Prehaps it is flooded with tests from all the Afrihost subscribers.

I get good results on my 8mbps line with the Neotel SpeedTest.net server:

To all the complainers, give it some time. Switch to backup accounts, or implement the workaround provided by Afrihost. Teething issues are bound to occur, not matter how much you plan in advance. Any IT person knows this. Even the biggest, smartest companies like Google, Microsoft and Apple get it wrong sometimes.

We owe it to Afrihost to have some patience. They revolutionised the internet in RSA. This is the biggest thing to happen in the industry since R29 per GB.

A move of this magnitude is bound to have problems and unforeseen issues. In the grand scheme of things, the were LOTS more users that got connected and have had no issues whatsoever, we did all our homework and we could not have predicted that Telkom made this type of error on their side.

We do take responsibility, we're not posting a hellopeter against Telkom, but I've always been straight with the guys on this forum and I plan on continuing to do so.

Use / Don't Use :)

Ja pretty much everyone I know on Afrihost down in Sea Point, Cape Town is offline.. just for the record or whatever.

Let the calls flood in! :)

Afrihost have done a great Job letting everyone know in advance.
Disappointed in the slow start to their status updates this morning as they had set themselves a high standard previously.
After about 7.30am they have been doing a good job communicating.

Had a client who was down till about 9.30am, they are fine now.
I'm sure they have been flooded today with calls - when this is over Gian take the team for a well deserved lunch!
