Afrihost ADSL price cuts and improved uncapped performance

Bundled:
10MB ADSL + 100GB =

R697

Unbundled:
10MB ADSL R399

50GB+50GB = R199 =

R598

So by un-bundling my line I can save R99pm (Until 30 Sep). Thats R594.00 saving ...

Is this what Afrihost wants us to do? Why don't they give the bundled okes a R100pm discount instead?

I guess I got my wish, 100GB for R199, perfect!

No, that is definitely not what we want. We still want you to save on a bundle. We are making changes to the Capped bundles, just not in time for todays announcement. :(

These prices might seem cheap but if I compare my usage on VOX / @lantic bolt-on after hours (full-line speed) to these two :

10GB + 10GB R49pm
20GB + 20GB R89pm

.. the last 2 months I've done close to 30GB each month, so neither of these would work for me, as I'm getting better value with Vox - R59 uncapped per month.

We have been adding capacity since late last year and we will be adding more in the coming weeks.

Well shaping in the Southern region has not improved even if you have been adding capacity. If anything it has become worse and worse. The only time in 2 - 3 months it has lightened up is when we had loadshedding

awesome.... cheaper data... now just need to get the ADSL lines working :)
Mr Afrihost... don't u wanna cut telkom out of the delivery chain (Afrihost to home)? Invest in putting up good WiFi connections to home?
Charge us similar fee as ADSL charge, but for good WiFi link. no more stolen ADSL lines, i can live with 10ms ping times.
i can dream :) Mobile still too expensive.

I understand what you are saying that the changes may not have made a huge difference on your end but there has been a general improvement on the network since the changes and we are planning on adding more capacity.

That is bull.

You have been saying that additional capacity will be added since last year.
We are already 3 months+ in to 2014 and the North got some capacity and South is down in the dumps, but already the North was shaped to 50% & 50% in the last 2 days.
So probably for 6+ months this is the message that has been echoing in the AH threads.
"It is coming soon"

The options to change package in the client zone don't list the extra data - but I'm assuming this will kick in automatically?

If I change from Business Uncapped 10mbps to the capped 150+150 package, am I billed pro-rata for the used data this month on the new package, or does it only change over from April?

I am sorry you feel that way. Again, that has not been the case, we increased capacity twice last year and there was an improved on performance. As we say on the statement, capacity has already been introduced in the North and more is coming in the East and South.

The aim to ease shaping on Uncapped accounts. The only unshaped accounts are Capped DSL and Business DSL.

I am on the 50 gig bundle for r297. Will i get the 50 gig as well?

Bundles got the Mystery Bonus this month. We will see what happens in the coming months.

We will be reviewing Capped Bundle prices anyway. As soon as things are finalised on our side, we will make the announcement.

Hmm...Still not enough for me to switch from the Uncapped Business :/

Uncapped unshaped 4meg where I average 300gigs with potential to do a lot more at R797
vs
Capped 4meg 150gig+150gig at R599+R279 = R878

Yes, if you change packages, the changes will be automatic. Any upgrades done now will be charged prorata.

So just to clarify - am I billed for both the Bus. Uncapped account usage for this month and the new package, or is the number of gigs I've used thus far deducted from the capped package I switch to ?
