Afrihost ADSL price cuts and improved uncapped performance

Well, i don't understand doubling the capped data while still applying harsh shaping on uncapped and no adjustment of business uncapped pricing. It doesn't look like regular uncapped is getting much of a deal, and business uncapped is getting no deal at all.

Exactly my point when they started giving out mystery bonuses, They need to order like 60% capacity increase not 20-odd%, I don't want a price decrease either, just no more harsh shaping 20 hours a day

Depends on where you live. KZN has seen ..extremely bad changes since January. Having to use up turbocharge minutes to download files you need urgently is kind of pointless, only alternative to that is staying awake till 2am and grab the 6hour window where your account runs at full speed.

And in this same thread you said the upgrades are coming in the next few weeks.. these "coming weeks" have been coming since last year. Are we expected to wait several more months or just jump ship to another ISP?

It wouldn't be far for us to make the announcement today if capacity will be increased in several months time. We will be making the upgrades soon but we do not have date yet.

But bundled subscribers (like me) got double data anyway this month.
So we haven't lost anything, really.
I'm sure that if the bundled pricing isn't finalised by 2nd April, they'll just do the same thing again (...right, Afrigirl?)

I can't say anything but we like doing odd things :)

Point taken but if you read this read so far, there are people who use about 100GB a month and are on Uncapped, lower Capped prices might make sense to move to Capped so that downloads are not shaped. We are adding capacity to help with the easing of shaping for Uncapped account. No news on what we will be offering Business Uncapped :(

That is the plan. We hope the increased capacity will decrease the amount of shaping.

Well like i said, these capacity increases has been mentioned from last year ( was september i asked the support and afriguy) and its now march, several months later. The question was if we are going to wait several months again ( close to a year then) or "coming weeks".

The extra data can be used any time right? So 50 + 50gb doesn't mean you can use 50gb during the day and 50gb at night, it just means that you getting 50gb extra?

That's correct, can be used anytime.

Yes, you can use the data at anytime

I dont know why they would do that... their pricing is still the best for an unshaped uncapped price...

Unshaped, uncapped, but not uncontended. This huge gigabyte giveaway does not augur well for continued network quality.
