Afrihost - avoid this isp

afrifail are a bunch of liars, they are right up there with WA in terms of bad service, dont know why anyone still gives gives clowns like WA and AFRIHOST money for these sub par, non uncapped services

I have to agree, their uncapped service is a major fail. Their policy of fobbing off users onto IS which then gradually throttles the entire top 50% of users regardless of total usage on a ten day rolling window is really dumb. It means that at any point of time half of the users will always have a degraded experience.

I've only had good experiences with: WA / Afrihost / Axxess.

Glitches have come into play - but not due to gross incompetence. I suggest in future you fine folks resort to forum bashing only when you cannot make any headway with the companies.

Why? Simple. You're hurting their image without taking ANY responsibility if you turn out to be wrong. Nobody is going to read your apology on page 45, all they see is the "This ISP sucks" headline and it sticks to them.

If the OP was reasonable his thread would contain the same info, but with the title "Having difficulty with ISP X, can someone assist?" - Same content - MUCH better tone.

Come now guys, we're not 6yrs old anymore.

So nobody should post their negative experiences with any ISP here because it might hurt their image? What about Telkom? There is no doubt there are issues with Afrihost's uncapped offering, which have been mentioned in many other threads here. There is also a responsibility to inform other consumers of your experience with an ISP. Why is Afrihost an exception?

There's nothing stopping any ISP from defending themselves on this forum.

Add me to the list of Afrihost fanbois - I won't touch their uncapped with a barge pole anymore, but their regular capped data is some of the best and easiest to use that I've ever purchased.

R29 P/M for 2gb ( got a GB for free, thankyouverymuchAfrihost ) is pretty damned good for a backup account or when I actually need unshaped data.
 
Thanks for the heads up, there is definitely something very dodgy going on with Afrihost, I literally sent this link to the thread to Afrihost support, and I swear to you, minutes later replies of insults start flying in, then they log off.

If this is Afrihost themselves doing it, then I am GREATLY disgusted!

It's likely. A lot of replies here are from the companies and their employees.

@saffakanera as far as I can see no1 started to insult you, unless your meaning of an insult is something totally different.

@AfriCrap fanbois: we must keep defending good service, even if it is only us that is getting it.

@AfriCrap Crappers: keep dissing, but notice how recently almost every ISP has been getting hate threads??? so then you have good service at another ISP, but can guarantee that there are <insert other ISP name>Crap users as well.

lucky for you, not every user with those ISP's feel the need to come create a hate thread about it.
 
Seriously? You can't handle waiting till Monday to phone their accounts department? You have to run to the internet and complain immediately after there's a glitch? I've had billing errors with them before, but they're gone out of their way to solve them for me.

You have absolutely no patience it seems. Pity, because that might cost you in life.

This seems like a very simple error, which can be resolved very calmly on the phone without the need for WW3. Try it out sometime, you will stress out less and probably live longer.
 
You know, I sent Afrihost a link to this thread when I mailed them early this morning, at about 8:00AM, RIGHT after that, you posted, twice, then logged off, is this the sort of crap I can expect from Afrihost?

We have 40+ accounts plus webhosting and not had a single day's worth of problem. Yes they might block an account if a person/s have spyware/trojans on their machines but that is totally understandable because I.S. flags the account and we make money by cleaning the network, I say all in all everybody wins. Go Afri*insert here whatever* fanboi? No idea, but great service? Absolutely!

Oh no I'm not one of THOSE people. I torrent stuff I actually need, not to share. I don't abuse the bandwidth so I believe using 25GB/s a month is ok.

These damn ISP's need to realize the average SA consumer cannot afford to wait a week for a reply as you drain his/her bank account as they wait. This type of "support" is the very reason companies go bankrupt, as SA economy grows so will your volumes of support, it is time to step your game up.

No reply during the weekend and you run an internet ISP? Let's really think twice about that for a moment.

No -1 to saff ( shame of you !! ) ... if you complain ..go to hellopeter... and DONT create a threads that's gonna harm our local dsl/internet providers !!! we have been working hard it in last 5 years !!! to get where we are !!

..... for the record I do not work for any an ISP.
