Afrihost being sabotaged?

My point was that the conspiracy theorist in me is thinking that all this negativity is more sinister. It seems to me that somebody out there are deliberately trying to give Afrihost bad press. This has been happening since day one of the special. Go look at the regularity of the bad threads that turns out to be, as previously said, people just not having the ability to read.

@ Outofthebox: You seem to think that this thread is directed towards you, which is far from the truth. I am just following what is being said about an ISP to whom I have no affiliation except that I am a customer. You came here and the shoe was a perfect fit.

On the pre-paid ATM and loving it - much cheaper IS Int BW than Axxess.

The only inconvenience I have with Afrihost is I cannot change my password to what I want it to be, cannot change the amount active concurrent connections and the username is an issue when getting it to be what you want it to be.

Been with Afrihost since started with special...can only recommend them!!! great service and really no problems. They are to be commended!!!. I've now also switched 3 of my friends over to them... very happy indeed.
KEEP IT UP Afrihost

I have had no problems with Afrihost!
i have been with them a few months and all is well.
whenever i have a query, they have helped me!

still amazed it took less than 45 mins to connect me and that was on the weekend!

KEEP IT UP AFRIHOST

WHEN U HAVE UNCAPPED SERVICE, COUNT ME IN!

if your conspiracy theory is true - it's backfired for those ISP's. I don't think I have ever seen so many people come to the defence of any other ISP as they do with Afrihost.

This to me is a very powerful positive for Afrihost.

yea bokka i thought people where giving afrihost a bad name!!! but i logged on my account i have some how used up 400mb!!! i havent even finished my 3gig account with telkom!! so i will see how fast adn how they deal with the situation.

Maybe your cat got horny? Because as anyone here will tell you Afrihost don't make mistakes. It's a fact, like old ginger taking a peek over your shoulder when you log on.

No, outofthebox...

Nobody has said Afirhost don't make mistakes, we've all said they make mistakes and they fix them when they're notified about them... (which they did with the mistake they made with your account)

Your threads ultimately boiled down to having an acute inability to read... and then ranting about it instead of attempting to resolve the issue calmly with the company directly

I'm glad that everyone is happy with Afrihost. I also still use them until WebAfrica lowers their prices.

I have had my fair share of problems with Afrihost though. They gave me a free gift that they wanted to charge for. An email fixed that though. Then I had problems claiming the free domains. Ugh well I wrote a whole thread about it a while back. It was a hassle and a half until Michelle came to my rescue.

So yes I am generally happy with Afrihost but haha I don't ever want to deal with their support again even though Moshe and some others are great. I like that Afrihost is so cheap but WebAfrica is my ISP of choice after the trials (free gigs), WAGE and soon a Steam content server, plus I am lucky that I've never had problems with their support. So when WebAfrica lowers their prices, even if it's still higher than Afrihost's then I will move back to them.

My advice? Afrihost is fine but don't take any of the free gifts, don't go over your cap, check the billing for mistakes and hope you don't have to email for support. I still recommend them to people so they aren't that bad at all.

I've had no major issues with Afrihost, but I must say that WebAfrica's support team, in my experience, is far more technologically clued up than Afrihost's. Afrihost will quickly give you stock standard answers, but the moment your query requires some real technical insight you have to hope that you are talking to just the right techie.

I say that after 31 emails and 2 phone calls I am left R300 out of pocket with 2 parked domains, I now have zero confidence that Afrihost could host the ecommerce site I had planned, which is all a bit of a mess as I already met with investors over the weekend. So now I have to pay some other company an additional R150 to transfer the domains to them.

That means I am still R150 poorer from the experience, not my fault as the CEO has stated, their mistake.

By the way I have not received an email apology from Afrihost yet, seems the fact is the CEO is willing to apologise to the masses first, before he bothers to apologise to his customer, that's of course if he ever would have had it not been for my posts on here.

Hey he didn't pop up with an apology until the **** really hit the fan, and people on here want to crucify me for forcing an apology from an ISP that made a mistake. ROFLMFAO

If I remember right someone mentioned that Afrihost messed up they also offered no apology and he had to contact IS directly.

You Afrihostians will be listed as a cult in Wikipedia before the years out.

Afrihostians.co.za anyone ?

@OutOfTheBox

I have had problems with Afrihost, search my profile I even started a couple of threads. BUT in the end they have always solved it, always been professional, respectable and service levels both from the actual internet connection to staff have been excellent.

They at least admit when they are at fault and do not try to blame the customer for whatever reason.

Afrihost you have my respect!

Show me another ISP where the CEO bothers to post or interact with the community. If you are so unhappy with them, then either sort out your problems (in an adult manner) or find another ISP. If you want cheap use R300 ISP and then you will see what a problomatic ISP is

Ah yes, Afrihost hosting service and support was horrendous, but their ADSL (service, at least) seems significantly better.

OutOfTheBox, are you going to admit that you can't read though regarding your "prepaid" thread?

They have admitted a mistake in charging you R300 when they shouldn't have for the domains, which they have refunded you. You also assumed you could do something with that product that was not support by that product package they offered you FOR FREE.

I for one don't think Afrihost need to offer you an apology.. if anything you need to offer them an apology for trying to damage the reputation of the company when it boiled down to you assuming, and not being able to read.

The CEO should have apologised first privately, coming on here after the **** has hit the fan to offer an apology to the masses, while listing other complaints against his competitors(isn't that illegal in SA), is utter crap.

Anyone think this is proper conduct for a CEO ?

Please explain why you feel the CEO should apologise to you, after you attempted to damage the reputation of a company on nothing more than your inability to read the T&Cs?
