Yeah the speeds are identical (when speeds are low -- about double when speeds are fine, because our line is 2x our data speed), and latency is occasionally worse in some areas. Seems fine again now (been okay for about 15 minutes). Strange. I reckon that the exchange here is having issues, though Telkom always says that its load is very low. I'll post a pingPlotter log in a bit.

Hhmm, if you see the same results on another account it'll point to exchange congestion The response time on the 2nd hop is way too high?

Hi AfriGuy. It's been almost a week now, but my speeds are still 4Mbps on a 6Mbps account. Can you please follow this up?

Sorry that you are still getting a poor experience. We're not seeing general throughput issues though

And that is the reason I have cancelled and moving to another ISP.
There is something seriously wrong, and has been for 3+ months. Everything from the dog's water bowl to Sun spots have been blamed, yet the resolution to this issue is far from seeing the light of day. Or the lights on routers.

Our neighbour across the road has a 10MB line through Telkom (it used to be a 4Mb ADSL line and was upgraded 2 weeks ago) and has very rarely had any speed or connectivity issues and gets an average of 8.5MB day or night and can stream Youtube vids at 1080p with no buffering at all, unlike our line which jumps between less than 0.5Mb and 6.2Mb on a daily basis.

His line connects to the same exchange as our line and is also connected inside the same manhole outside our property. And according to Telkom techs, there is nothing wrong with any of the lines or connections.

Oh well, hopefully the new ISP can at least give us.what we.pay for.

I requested an line upgrade to 4Mbps on 25th November 2014 06:00 am... And still no results yet. So let me guess? If it's not done today, there is no chance seeing it done through the weekend?

What happened to the in 48 hours max it will be done?

This is starting to get on my nerves now since I was already charged for the 4Mbps Business Package, but line still on 2Mbps.

I just want to thanx Afriguy with my internet that is running like a bullet.....I have upgraded from Capped 10meg to Business 10meg, and I must say this:I always always wanna to have a line running smooth everyday, no limit no holding backs. Thanx to Afrihost, and my son is also happy with his online gaming till 02:00 in mornings. If there is just one person out there that can support me, lets see a bit of positive feed back in here. I know everyone do have line problems and exchange problems, but lets just give these guys just "one" thanx "like" please
