Same for the capped accounts in CT - streaming impossible on both Afrihost and Access.

seeing heavy latency to Cape Town servers. Normally at 11ms, but now sitting at over 200ms. Having trouble browsing, have to keep refreshing pages.... and now I read that the IPC upgrades that were supposedly done over a month ago in Cape Town, were not actually done at all! How else do you explain the post on 25 November that AH is waiting for more IPC????

So, when I posted a few weeks back that I did not believe any IPC upgrades were done in the SOUTH, and NONE of the reps even went close to commenting on my posts THIS would be why.... I was right, and once again am back on this thread, wasting my time... it's not just me some of my clients are having the same issues all over Cape Town.

I am getting tired of being treated like an idiot, and spoken to like I am a 3 year old.
WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO FIX THE DAMN IPC ISSUES IN CAPE TOWN?
WE ALL HERE WANT A DEFINITE ETA.... Enough of this spin S*****T.... Enough of this attitude of "your's must be an isolated instance... or it must be your exchange"

This is now almost 5 months of erratic line behaviour.... and 5 months of AH taking full price and not delivering!

Same in Gauteng, Pretoria. Send them a request for my P2P that runs at 25kb/s and not the usual 150kb/s.
So they started the blame game again. I do not know how to setup P2P and all that poo.

Okay. Update. Problem was on their side. They did a port reset and now things are almost normal again.

Upload Speed: 811 kbps (101.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

Doesn't look too good at all. Is this on a local test?

that is my 4 mb business account....wish i can only give you half of the 700 bucks as well

Your latency seems pretty normal, but I think it's maybe not ideal to use an international test as a benchmark. What is your local result like?

I've never been a fan of using P2P as a line indicator. Problem is that the way that files are seeded could mean that you're getting a throttled uploader or someone limiting uploads to save on their bandwidth. I tested recently and a well seeded file took almost an hour and a half to download while another file, of the same size, download in less than 15 minutes.

While you can max out your line sometimes with torrents, which can indicate best throughput, it very difficult to benchmark performance on a single torrent, or any torrent performance cos there are just too many factors at play :(

LOL typical response. Not limited to one, but to 5. But lets see how this goes. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Not too bad here either, drop me a PM with your DSL username and I'll run through a few things on my end to see if I can spot anything.

Yes, really becoming a PITA. I send tests, tracerts, and still nothing improves. I restart my router, its gets worse. My frustration is getting to boiling point, pity 4 letter words are not allowed here, only 4 letter words in various combinations could describe this service

Do you have a traceroute that you can paste here when you notice the speeds drop and latency increase?

The actual line upgrade to 4Mbps is still pending, it looks like Telkom will actually need to move your port for your to be able to reach 4Mbps.

There will only be a pro-rata charge for your new ADSL line speed, once our system reads that the order has been marked as complete and your line is actually at the 4Mbps speed.

My Router Statistic shows Attainable Rate 12320 Kbps. But Still stuck on 2048 Kbps.

Line Coding(Trellis): On On
SNR Margin (dB): 219 270
Attenuation (dB): 125 90
Output Power (dBm): 51 121
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 12320 1204
Rate (Kbps): 2048 512
D (interleaver depth): 1 1
Delay (msec): 0.13 0.25

HEC Errors: 0 0
OCD Errors: 0 0
LCD Errors: 0 0

Total ES: 0 0

Once you're shifted over to a new port on the DSLAM things should look a bit better :)

Why does changing the DNS on the router prevent a Telkom email address from sending? If I use the default DNS, it works just fine, but something like Google DNS or OpenDNS doesn't work. I am using smtp.uls.co.za (Telkom's smtp doesn't work on Afrihost).

Could be a restriction of sorts on their end, what's the error when trying to relay mail?
