From that trace it looks like there is congestion on your exchange or a fault on the line. So if someone else goes online on your home network, that is going to push overall latency up and cause potential packet loss.

I think until Telkom upgrades your exchange, you may need to consider chucking everyone off the network when you game, or creating multiple SSIDs on your router and then severely restricting other WiFi users so you have maximum performance on the one you game on.

That was a trace route with a download running lol, my ping was fine :)

There was a spike in demand around 9pm last night which took a few minutes for our traffic management system to bring under control and I see this happened again just before 10pm. Otherwise, from my reports, latency should have been consistent in the South for the evening, these bursts should have lasted only 5-10 minutes at maximum :(

This was at 20:30 not 21:00

Yes... The Blogger brought this to our attention on Twitter, our Server Admin Team is addressing the specific glitch - I wouldn't say it was a vulnerability as it just lets multiple tickets be submitted - and should have it corrected in no time.

Hi, i am the blogger, firstly thanks for replying to me, after you saw how crappy your service was, i didnt even get a response. Secondly, the Javascript thing is a bug, as stated in the article. Exposing your SQL error messages, is definitely a security risk.

I just got an update, our LiveChat vendor will be installing the necessary fix tonight, so it should be back secured tomorrow.

Ok cool. But what about fixing my internet ?

Our Critical Care should be in contact with you in the next few hours to try and get your internet connection running as well as it could possibly be.

funny how fast the internet gets when there is less people on because of load shedding
makes one think less customers faster internet?

That's what happens when you sell this much bandwidth:

And provide it with a pipe this big:

Loadshedding shouldn't be that widespread that it would cause a significant drop in our bandwidth usage, but it would certainly affect congested Exchanges, especially if you notice a significant improvement in your speeds.

here we go again blame the other people
how many times have we changed over to another provider with the same line and same exchange and the speed is normal with almost no latency but no the problem is not with you
it is getting to the point where it is not worth discussing anymore

I'm not blaming anyone, I'm simply pointing out that Loadshedding is limited to specific areas at specific times, and in all likelihood will not affect anything more than the surrounding area.

The final changes are being implemented now, the Networking Guys are monitoring everything closely to make sure the network as a whole remains stable for an extended period.

Okay well it was fine until 930 on the dot. Then the latency is 60 -70ms higher.
