So to me, just reading back on all the Afrihost threads around, the MTN network is poked?

So many people having problems with latency, Packet Loss & Speed.... (Myself included)

We seem to just get generic answers, even when getting Ref Numbers from Afrihost nothing gets done (Sounds like Telkom)

I can't believe how the service levels have dropped at Afrihost, it is quite disheartening as Afrihost DSL accounts used to be the best around, now they are the worst (in my opinion).

Since November 2014 everything has gone pear shaped, Where is Gain in all this?
Is he even aware that the Network is performing so terribly?

Poor Poor show Afrihost!

I can't deny that some users - especially in the South and East - have not had the experience that we want them to have, but I wouldn't go so far as to say the entire network is poked. The major issue that we are still experiencing in the regions worse affected is that shaping and bandwidth management software is still leaking significant bandwidth, causing the issues that have been mentioned here. For the most part when we implement manual measures to slow the leaks there is some improvement but there is still a bit of delay causing the drops in speed and spikes in latency.

With regards to your account, I'm still not sure why you are consistently getting the latencies that high, I don't think it is linked to the issues I have described - as you've been reporting it for some time. I've sent your details and lines through to one of our Senior Techs to have a look at and they'll figure out what is causing your continued issue.

Just replied to your PM around this, I think the issues you're bringing up are more isolated :(

Thank you, that is all good and well, we have been through this step before.

The ref number I PM'ed you should explain what Telkom have found.

In my case, my accounts are routing to the wrong ESR which lead up to the IPC.

I should be routing through the following ESR: 105-236-10-1-esr-lo.mtnbusiness.co.za
But I am routing through this ESR: 105-237-134-1-esr-lo.mtnbusiness.co.za

Once MTN can get this fixed my latency should return back to normal.

I have opened a number of faults, and TelkomZA (Charl) confirmed this as well.

Mweb, IS, Vox & Telkom accounts are all routing through their correct ESR's.

But MTN for some unknown reason have changed something that is forcing all connecting from Richmond KZN to go to the incorrect ESR.

I have spoon feed Afriguy all this info after months of testing, but yet nothing has been done?

From what I understand, MTN have to correct this on their end? Telkom can not simply make changes.....

Still not a single response from either afrihost or telkom regarding my line upgrade, another weekend with no Internet, not only that but come Monday I have no way to do business, no emails, no payments, nothing, dead in the water. I am now screwed because neither telkom or afrihost can get their **** together.

I mentioned in another ISP thread that I'd like to try a 15mb Uncapped account (upgrade from my 10mb line and account) . 18 hours later i was downloading at 1.5MB/sec

I just heard back from the Telkom Area Manager, I've sent you a PM with the details.

I was not aware of that... I'm going follow up with AfriMan, if this is a case of updating the routing, this is definitely something I will follow-up on ASAP.

I'm sure we'll get your ADSL line sorted out and running smoothly again soon!

Where are your users located? We've not really seen any major issues in the North as things stand at the moment.

Why am I reminded of the crucifixion scene at the end of Monty Python's Life of Brian, where the guys on the cross sing "Always look on the bright side of life"? We're all either unbelievably naive or die-hard optimists.

For how long must we still put our trust in you, believing the promise that things will change?

Boy oh boy .... doesnt this just read like a Monty Python script.

My discussion started on Tuesday ,,,, and on Friday I am still getting well wishes .... as my internet slowly dies off.

For the record I am in the East region ..... and should have stayed in the Northern Hemisphere, but decided to come home to this.
Its like getting home and finding out the mother in law is visiting.

Not funny to me, but hilarious to everyone else .....

I'm also reminded of the famous Dead Parrot skit...

"I can assure you, there's no shaping."
"This parrot isn't dead, it's sleeping."

144p on YouTube constantly buffering.
Caught between a rock and a hard place:
Congestion on my exchange and crappy internet speeds. Not getting anywhere as Telkom isn't doing anything ( after numerous calls, faults logged, etc) and AH can't do anything for me.
