Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback - 2

I don't think it's that simple. Yes, if we had a 1Tbps network, we would never have problems like this, but I don't think that is realistic. Capacity is always going to be an ongoing concern, and I think Telkom's announcement earlier is certainly a step in the right direction to achieve the industry's plans of better broadband in general. However, there will always be valid business concerns around making sure that upgrades are financially viable and maximising available resources to keep costs down for their clients.

I totally agree with you. Its not that simple at all.
You know I have defended and stood up for you in the past and I totally understand where you are comming from.
A business is there to make money, I get that. You cant have 50% of the capactiy not being utilised but have it for * Incase* However on that note I think a few if not many clients are leaving becuase of the capacity issues. Whether it be the uncapped guys getting away with the not being shpaed etc I dont know. I know nothing about ISP networks etc and I can only imagine how difficult it must be to run and keep everyone happy. BUT, when people start leaving, the business model is failing.

Ill say it again like I have said before. When it works, nothing can come close to it with regards to performance vs value.

I just cancelled, due to poor support and no customer service.

I sent you a PM last night, no response. I did all the tests and sent it through for support, no response.
I never had these problems until this week, all other ISP accounts work fine and the problem goes away.

I don't think you PM'ed me, AfriGenie might have got your PM, and I will ask him to respond ASAP.

I see in a later post you have said that you've cancelled and I do apologise for the poor experience you've had. If here is anything I can do, please PM me or mail me on [email protected] :(

I totally appreciate and let me just say I really appreciate you being such an awesome ambassador for us.

We always do our best to leave the rands and cents out of it and do what's best for our clients. That's why in the past we've upgraded capacity even when it meant having to subsidise this ourselves. I really do believe that from a management perspective our team would do the same if they honestly believed that this was the only way forward. Right now, I think there is definitely room for us to use our available capacity more effectively.

To be honest, it gets to a layer of technicality that makes me a little dizzy, so I have to put my faith and trust in the team that work on this. I know it's not easy to do this, especially these days when we want/need information now (that's just the age we live in). I promise that I will keep doing my best to share as much information as I can as we work through this together.

How come the other ISPs never have this problem, and if they do it doesn't carry on for months?

You keep telling us you have the best in the world working on it, and unless you are referring to the PR spin doctoring there isn't anything that clients see that ever back that up.

man when people are stuck on the same tune and it plays over and over you get to the point where you don't want to listen to the crap anymore
and the weekend is coming up so will the internet bump off again after afripeeps have gone home and left us with crap speed an high latency and packet loss
i see packet loss is up to crap again this morning

Forced my modem modulation to ADSL rather than ADSL2+. My SnR doubled so definately an improvement. Upload speed has gone from 0.3mbps to 0.48mbps.

Going to check tonight on GTA V if that helps at all, will test with a crystalweb account as well.

Will post results over the weekend, sorry didn't get a chance last night and installing my ssd tonight so only going to get a gap tomorrow.

I don't think we're the only ISP with issues, but that doesn't excuse the problems we've had.

The largest hindrance is the system that we use and how significantly different it is l from the norm, for the most part when it runs great, the network runs awesomely.

Cool, I sent you a mail now, if you can sort my problem, I shall renege on my cancellation....and yes, I did PM, Afrigeni, my bad, but nonetheless, no response from him in any case. Sent a mail to support last night, no response. Called in earlier, spoke to Gareth in support, explained that Philemon assured me yesterday of a return call, which I am still waiting for. He put me through to "critical care" but landed up in billing dept, then got put through to accounts and George told me he would make sure someone from critical care calls me...I still wait.

Packet Loss should never be an issue, even at the busiest time of day contention should never be an issue.

Where are you experiencing the packet loss?

Awesome!

Thanks for testing.

If you are in the South, then you post would have been just when latency was high but should have already been dropping back into normal range.

Maybe run through the basics first, speedtest and traceroute so we can establish if the latency is only in-game or overall on your connection.

Will do!

Afternoon!

As per my PM, our Critical Care Team will be in contact with you to help figure out what is going on with your connection.

speeds are down the crapper again typically ah after hours
latency and packet loss is through the roof

Could you possibly post a traceroute? I know you guys are tried of me asking that, but that is all that really helps.

The issue appears to be intermittent, with speeds dropping from 700KB to 180KB, so on a traceroute everything appears normal at the time of testing.

25TH. Those that haven't cancelled yet, good luck to you.

Enjoy your poverty internet at world class prices.
