Hi AfriGenie. I'm not actively looking through the forums everyday, but it does seem you guys have a problem. Again last night, around 9PM, I had pings way over 150, with speedtests maxing at 8Mbs on my 20meg vdsl line. This morning I'm back to 25 ping, full 20meg. I tried to download the latest ubuntu 15.04 iso image, with a MAX of 135Kb/s. Really, feels like I'm back in 1998.

Please guys, I'm paying close to R2k for my home adsl afrihost account, and I'm not going to accept this. You HAVE to address this issue, or at the very least be transparent with whats happening on your network. Bloody frustrating to look at the network status with green lights everywhere, with a connection that is totally unacceptable, and with a forum of people complaining.

Our Team is pushing hard to get things run as smooth as they have in the past, I cannot reiterate enough how much work is being done in the background, and I am sure that there will be even further improvements in the coming days!

Must be exchange congestion. You know they are not going to do anything with a trace route as well.

Well Latency seems to be a constant problem on the MTN network?

Really sorry about the slow speeds you're seeing here, I know the current situation is far from ideal :( We're being as transparent as we possibly can, and truly are working super hard on getting things back up to par.

:(
The East does look quite busy this morning. I've been away last week, just want to know if anything got sorted out with the faults we had logged for you?

No, everything is still the same. No surprise there....

Was AfriGenie following things up for you?
Either way, if the fault was a quick fix I'm sure it would have been done by now. I'll do some digging on this today to see if I can get any feedback for you.

I'm in george, kingswood golf estate.

I doubt that the exchange is overloaded. I did some tests last night. Some downloads I would get 2.1Mb/s, and some 135Kb/s. If the exchange was overloaded, then all downloads will be borked.

It could just be an incorrect geo IP somewhere, what's the performance like at the moment?
The 3rd hop doesn't look that great :(

Yeah latency from the third hop has been all over the place this last weekend indeed it is now showing Lesotho as my location :O

Maybe try flushing your DNS cache to see if that helps? Or switch over to the Telkom guest account for 30 mins, that should refresh your IP when you re-auth using your Afrihost account.

30 min later geo location seems fixed but intl and 3rd hop latency is still not good.
