Yeahp, trying local gaming servers tonight is just a joke. Pings hopping between 120 and 200. Like watching a clipart powerpoint presentation while someone scrapes your eyeballs with a rusty spork.

*shakes head* come on Afrihost this is not on, I'm not sure that I can afford this service anymore.

Also timing out after a short while when connected to my UWC server that is hosted locally :/

Slow DSL Speeds <Medium Impact> 16:35, 11 Nov 2014
We’re receiving reports from some clients in the North, South and East regions experiencing slow speeds on their DSL connections. Our technical team are investigating incoming queries to determine the possible cause. We apologise to affected clients and assure them that we will continue to work towards improving their internet experience.

Okay, as of about 23:30 pm this evening speed and ping seems fine again.

Is it finally fixed or is this just because people are going to bed. Will see tomorrow morning I suppose.

Yes! just look at the difference:

Morning Guys

I see most of the posts here are about slow speeds. We posted a network notice yesterday following the feedback on this and other threads as we're seeing too many reports of clients having a poor experience.

From what I am seeing though, latency should be mostly stable, but at some points we are seeing very low throughput. At the moment the technical guys are still investigating, but we hope to make ongoing improvements to bring performance back into line.

Seems like there are more people reporting issues, Afrihost have put this on their web site

Odd that it seems like they are only investigating now, and for the past few days/weeks it was claimed the network is running 100%

Both my line at home and our work line is dead slow. Bosses are now asking me why we ever moved from Mweb. Nice going guys, can we please get this sorted.

Same route, same IP's on MTN Network...
Axxess account pretty FLAWLESS...
Afrihost account spiking all over the place.

Tell me again that my exchange is congested!

and NO... it is not an isolated case.
and NO... it is not just my area. There are similar experiences all over the country.
and NO... it is not my account, as all my clients that I moved to Afrihost are now on MY case because they cannot conduct business.

AND YES... the problem IS on Afrihost's side (look above).
AND YES... it is definitely repeatable.
AND YES... it is definitely Afrihost's Network Management Software.
AND YES... Afrihost has no idea what they are doing, or how to run a network, or how to deliver service to ALL clients, and not just the ones that are NOT complaining here.

I have posted similar results and comments since yesterday. Till now, not one of them has been acknowledged, commented on, or even remotely addressed, or answered.

I suppose it's difficult to argue with FACT :erm:

At this point we are still investigating the cause of the slower than expected ADSL connection speeds, I do know the past few weeks have been tough, but I am sure we will get this sorted out soon.

Ok so things are not looking good at the moment. I think it is time to start looking elsewhere. I cannot deal with this any longer. It has been good, but enough is enough..

This is making gaming near impossible!!

EDIT: Seems to have normalized again! Why is this happening so often?

This is what we are in the process of looking into, at this point it looks like system updates and changes that we put in place were not as effective as we expected them to be. This has our highest priority at the moment, and you should see improvements soon.

Well, looks like my account is behaving itself since last night around 11:30pm. Still fine this morning except for a huge hickup just after 9:40am when it slowed to a standstill for about 5 minutes and then corrected itself. Continuing testing etc.

That is certainly good to hear, please keep me updated on any changes! It really helps us to keep an eye on the general network status.

You may have seen a momentary spike in latency, we are testing a few changes on our network, if you test now the latencies should have dropped by a considerable margin.
