Bwahahaha seriously? Have you ever been in a service industry bud? Of course my loyalty is with the company. Which is why I recommended Afrihost as an ISP based on price. It doesn't take 5 frikken minutes to changes ISP's with mail routing etc that needs to be done, so I end up looking like an incompetent idiot because of it. So please enjoy your high horse. As for the rest, thanks guys whatever you did has definitely helped up north, my users are much happier.

Because your boss and your company does not care about the ISP, or the mail routing issues. That is why they have you. They need internet for the company to make money and succeed. If not, your customers will go somewhere else.

Like I said, if your bosses are coming to ask about internet then there is an issue. What do you tell them, a public internet forum said everything will be ok? lol. I would have kicked you out and replaced you with someone more competent long ago. Network admins are a dime a dozen.

That was your first mistake.

You get what you pay for.

How many more times. And when are you guys going to get this fixed. This has been going on for over 3 weeks, seriously? I have bosses asking me if we should move back to another ISP, how can I in good conscience say no when things are like this. Please guys some hard ETA's and a final solution please.

Why would you say no if they aren't working?

Doesn't make sense.

vangar316 is right.

Aaaahh yes... the benefit of hind-sight. When all was working perfectly earlier this year, everyone was saying, "what great value for money... ", and "...you see, you can get great products at an affordable price..."
:p

Working "better".

I actually recommended AH Business to a friend when "everything was working", but streaming never was.

After some more testing we found it to be a routing issue. IS based accounts seem to have the best international routing in the country.

I agree, Streaming on this account is basically non existent, but then again on Axxess its almost perfect, so something is amiss.

Either AH couldn't afford to buy the required IPC capacity, or Telkom have not given them the request capacity... hence why the upgrades haven't "fixed" the issue and network "optimisation"(not shaped) continues!

So glad I moved! My current ISP rocks! A business account for a business user!

Nope... still terrible... actually pathetic, and the worst it's been for the last 3 months (10Mb Line)

We are adjusting the resource pool for our Unshaped users now, this change will then ensure each account receives the correct volume of bandwidth and not the reduced speeds that you guys are seeing.

So removing our shaping.... I know, I know. Will say it before you do. Business Uncapped is an unshaped product :)

Either AH couldn't afford to buy the required IPC capacity, or Telkom have not given them the request capacity... hence why the upgrades haven't "fixed" the issue and network "optimisation"(not shaped) continues!

So glad I moved! My current ISP rocks! A business account for a business user!

Who are you using now, if you dot want to post here you can PM me if you want.

We are adjusting the resource pool for our Unshaped users now, this change will then ensure each account receives the correct volume of bandwidth and not the reduced speeds that you guys are seeing.

Soooo...... the problem IS on your side? And ALL users have been "governed" by your Home Uncapped shaping Policies? What a shocker!!!! Is that not what we've been saying ALL ALONG???

The fact is, that we have waited for 3 months with the promise of the performance we are paying for, only to be given the run-around for that period. Not to mention, being told repeatedly that there is nothing wrong on AH's side. It took me and LOTS of others here to do your jobs for you, by pointing out where the fault is - ie. AH's Network Management Software.

The thing that really annoys the crap out of me, is that UNSHAPED users/clients were ever being "managed/optimised/SHAPED" in the first place. Moreover, AH has never sent out ONE email to clients apologising for the shoddy service delivery, nor have they EVER clearly given any definitive ETA on when FULL service functionality would be restored (AND THEN STUCK TO IT!).

It is not for me, or anyone else here to do the work for your "engineers".... We have our own lives and businesses to run, with our own clients to satisfy. Take a look at my post count on the left.... ALL those posts are from March this year since being with Afrihost, even though I joined MyBB long before that. Until now, I have NEVER needed to micro-manage ANY of MY "Service Providers".... All that time on here has taken me away from my business, clients, and family, when it should JUST WORK - Life's too short to waste time on incompetence and unprofessionalism (the 2 things I hate most in life).

Now.... all we want to know is, "when can we get back to our lives and forget that AH is even a concern again? You are supposedly meant to service us in the background, as the theory is that YOU are the ISP and Provision Specialists"???????

Or am I wrong (...AGAIN)?

We are adjusting the resource pool for our Unshaped users now, this change will then ensure each account receives the correct volume of bandwidth and not the reduced speeds that you guys are seeing.

You can't really ensure that, can you? That would imply a 1:1 contention ratio.

... each account receives the correct volume of bandwidth

This also implies that at the moment it's Afrihost that is artificially creating the current contention on the network. It therefore follows, that Afrihost did NOT get the full IPC upgrades for the various regions, and has been stalling and continuing to "optimise/manage" all user accounts, while still signing up new clients.

So, once again, WE are paying for your upgrades, so that you can provide s**t service, with an even worse overall user experience, just so that you can maintain and create the illusion of growth to your shareholders (parent company, MTN).

Hey Afrihost! Here's a novel idea... how about you actually sell a premium product, instead of hinting at one and charging the full price??? You do realise that DOES amount to fraud??? Or is that just my opinion AGAIN?
:wtf:

Nope... ADSL is by definition a contended product offering.

THIS.
Also, you can't use that phrase/statement and use the excuse of "contention", or exchange congestion as the reason for poor performance.

Not all lines are equal, nor are used at the same time in exactly the same manner.
ie. different data size, different amount of connections per server, latency, etc., etc. - these all will influence the performance over a defined session.

I got me a free account from another provider. Will be testing this tonight and, if I am happy, I will move over come the 25th. This bs is too much. Will come back once AH is AH again and not AfriCrap!

Will this have any positive effects on streaming buffering, even if it wasn't buffering when my speedtest showed full speed?
