Not bad for a 1Meg

Hi AH.
Just heard from critical care that Telkom says there are 2 exchanges in my area and both are congested so they can't even move my line.
So what can be done to sort this out?
That's horrible news![]()
Unfortunately, not a whole lot. If both exchanges are congested then changes are you're on a shortlist to have Telkom's DSLAM team upgrade the area. This is all done according to a very strict schedule though, something we've tried fighting to move forward and didn't get anywhere.
So I must either live with it (until they do something) or cancel the service?
And you guys can't put pressure on them?
We've tried so many times, when it comes to situations like these it's all up to a planned DSLAM upgrade path. And knowing our Critical Care guys, they've tried working every angle with Telkom already.
Well I will have to consider my options. Can't keep paying the amount I do for crappy internet - no offence to you.
Well, I had my sync drop from 20Mb to 15MB. Telkom came out after Afrihost logged a call, and said its underground copper issue and then closed the call.
According to the technician 15MB is good enough and he doesn't want to replace the cable.
That sucks
I know it's still the "up to xMbps" so from what they're seeing, you're getting more than 11Mbps which is considered fine. Underground cabling is always tricky. Similar to Dianysis, most upgrades and improvements are all on a set schedule by Telkom.
Yeah, but after having a 20MB line for almost 2 years it is a bit ****. Especially since AH doesn't have an in-between 10 and 20MB Business account I might have to cancel my AH and get a CW capped account now.
Are we ever going to get a response on the constant packet loss issues when it comes to LoL?
My business line is appalling again tonight. Massive lag (280ms ping as opposed to 170) and major packet loss (30% according to teamspeak).
Tried my Afrihost trial account, same business. Trying my WebAfrica trial account and ping is a stable 180 and no packet loss yet...
download speeds are going down the crapper again
at the moment nntp looks like a starvation of bandwidth or throttling as is has been slowing down for the last hour or 2
