Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback - 2

Came here to post about my abysmal latency issues, but I see that it is a known issue for a few days already.

I'm seeing 120ms+ to any local IP addresses on Business Uncapped! If I use my WebAfrica capped account, I'm seeing ~30ms.

Are we being routed via Europe or something? Throughput seems to be okay still, but WOW, those latencies!

Update:
Dialled up with four ADSL accounts on my router and pinged each one from the office (Vox Fibre). Results here: http://prntscr.com/7d1nud

"Your test account" refers to the test account that Simphiwe at Afrihost gave me to test.

Why are the Afrihost accounts performing so terribly?! I have asked two friends on Afrihost to test and they report the same thing, so it seems its not just Business Uncapped that is affected.

Update 2:
Aaaaaand its fixed. Would love to know what happened. Seems like the entire Afrihost Network was affected.

Looks like we did see a rise in latency in the East yesterday. It seems to have started just after 2pm and then dropped off from around 4pm. This looks to me to have been due to high demand :(

Is something wrong at the moment? Half the internet cant be accessed.

If you're referring to our site and ClientZone, we had a bit of a wobbly yesterday. Seems to be DNS related but should not have lasted very long. The team picked it up fairly and got everything sorted.

Should all be fine :)

This is not only recently but for the past few months?

This is only during a short period, usually between 9pm and 10pm, and varies according to demand. There have been quite a few nights when latency has remained stable during that time.

Not for at least a week.

Still does not answer my question latency used to be about 15ms, now its 150ms or greater? This is any time of the day, even over weekends.

If it's all day then there is most likely another cause. We're seeing pretty normal latency across the network for the day and after 10pm :(

On my report Tuesday evening seems pretty normal. Don't have a report going back much further but there are definitely days when it's better. Definitely not saying that it's not bad some days, when demand is excessive, latency can be pretty poor as well :(

So if its all day, what could the problem be?

If your latency is permanently that high, then we need to start look for issues specific to your area, to your line, or to your Exchange even.

Do you have test account with a different ISP?
