Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback - Part 3

I'm really struggling with this terrible Youtube streaming. Some videos stream HD no trouble at all, and others buffer to the point of just stopping. The ones that can't stream at 720p greatly outnumber the ones that can.

Sorry to hear that :( Is this on the POC network?

Okay... So just got my test account details. Guess you are swamped

So things might be working, but will know in a few minutes...

Thanks for confirming the test results!
Would you mind pasting them in the official POC feedback thread too please? http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...n-Feedback?p=15637616&viewfull=1#post15637616

Sorry to hear that :( Is this on the POC network?

The new network? Doubt it. All I have about the new network is an email from AH saying that they're not ready to start the public phase of testing yet.

I am on the new network and have the same issue. buffer buffer bufffer

What's your latency looking like at the moment?
Testing began today on the new network :)

Let's not confuse the feedback here, since you're on the new network the feedback will be very different.
As discussed via PM, we're working on YouTube performance on the POC.

Yeah just pointing out that both new and old have the same issue.

So maybe not something on the new network but a general issue?

Afrihost tsk tsk tsk. Youtube buffering like crazy on my 20meg VDSL. Works perfect for a while, and then..boom....cant even buffer 5 seconds at a time. Remind me again, like you did last month, and the month before, when these issues will be solved?

My Afrigreen account seems to be lot worse, just normal speed tests, confirmed no traffic on line at time of testing both with SNMP graphing and IP Accounting checks direct on router.

Maybe just check through different streaming services like YouTube, also try switching around DNS to see if that helps at all.

OK, did some tests tonight.
Netflix- 800k to 1Mbps
Youtube plays full HD (I tested that first), but after playing netflix it came down at 200kbps
Vimeo - 300kbps

I switched to Afrihost DNS, no difference for Vimeo.

Speedtest 5.8Mbps

In one word - performance is dismal.

I'm not quite sure what your point is?
Many of the complaints to date have been about the the possibility that the MTN network might be part of the problem, no?
The new POC network does not appear to be on MTN, but Afrihost's website is still hosted on the MTN network.

Your first test:
New POC network (NOT MTN) ---> MTN at Gallo Manor. i.e. An off-net test.

Your second test:
Old DSL Network (MTN) ---> MTN at Gallo Manor. A traceroute and speedtest that stays on the same network should be better.

Getting truly pathetic speeds in Steam. As usual. Steam and Youtube have been rubbish for a while now. No issues with Origin, Battlenet or GOG Galaxy.

1 day 10 hours remaining...

It looks like Youtube was performance wasn't quite up to scratch last night. Was it buffering the entire night?
