I've been on Afrihost business for 11 months and it's been awesome. The complainers in this thread are an unfortunate minority. Don't forget that you can leave Afrihost very quickly if you don't like them - just give notice before the 25th of any month and they will immediately stop billing.

Ill be honest torrents fly max speed 24/7. browsing is quick. Yet streaming always buffs for me. When I check transfer rate it dips. Yet the 1 gig free always flies for streaming.

Shows you business isn't fully unshaped.

You're not the first one to notice a difference between capped and business.

No issues this side last night, spoke to a colleague who convinced me to give Afrihost a try and he also had no issues getting full line speed 24/7, I am on 4mbps and he is on 10mbps, different exchanges in Table View area.

I had endless streaming issues with Telkom and Openweb, things seem to be great on Afrihost, will have to see how it goes over the next few months.

On another note, all my pm's have been responded to, set up a hosting package yesterday and responses where great. Strange you guys are struggling like this.

Really? I've been trying since Sunday - all I want is a response from their accounts department that I'l be refunded, so I can stop using this account - and get another in the interim.

That has mostly been my experience too, apart from the occasional regional glitch. I was previously on OpenWeb Gold and the daytime shaping was abysmal.

The south region seems to be affected the most when there are issues. I can usually download at full speeds but then things like Youtube, Twitch etc. are poor, and Supersport is basically useless for any videos, same applies to DSTV On-Demand.

I know Afrihost keeps on saying they are aware of the support issues, but this has been going on for a long time, submit a support request, because the Live Support cant connect and you never get a response. Currently we are paying a premium, but not getting a premium service. These are business accounts, should get priority support. I had an open ticket a few moths back, were I had no line for almost a week, and no matter how many times I called nothing was done. I eventually contact Telkom directly and sorted it out. Afrihost manage my line. Not good enough.

Paying 1K pm for a 10Mbps premium business connection and I'm not even currently getting 3Mbps with NNTP...

Why I even still bother is beyond me.

What server are you using to DL from?

You seriously going to ask me that?

My own. Prior to 7:30 I was getting full speed, after 7:30, shaping kicked in and I can actually see the gradual reduction in speed on my ADSL service.... They're shaping - it's as simple as that.

Unless you are paying for premium USENET the restraint is not your ADSL connection, but the news server.

yep, also only getting half my account speed at the moment on certain downloads, where i get full speed if I use a capped account.

sies vir julle afrihost!

From about 8am this morning, speeds on Business have steadily decreased. Same story as last couple of days. By around noon, I can barely manage 300k/sec on a 10mbps line, and you can forget about having a download and any kind of video/music stream going simultaneously. As stated previously and sent in screenshot form, WA is going full speed. The last time this happened, I went through a week or two of support telling me they couldn't find a problem, before leaving AH. Shortly afterwards, AH made an official announcement about an IPC shortage being responsible for the slow speeds. This is worryingly similar, especially as there is no confirmation of problems.

My theory, due to high IPC load, the contention on business uncapped has gone too high causing slow speeds.

Would explain why capped is fine as that is their bread and butter and takes TOP PRIORITY.

Out of curiosity given the insistence of several people here, I just logged onto a 1gb capped account I have with AH that I haven't gotten around to cancelling. I just tried an NNTP download on Business and was getting 300-450k/sec. On the capped account, I'm getting 600-750k/sec. It's not full line speed, but that's a stark difference. And yes, I let it run for a while so it could average out.

Considering the premium we're paying for Business Uncapped, I find this ridiculous.
