Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

Something of interest - since last night, I noticed that speedtest.net is now showing the Eastern speedtest sites in SA as closest to my location, instead of Cape Town. Speeds have also improved since this happened. (although we'll see if this survives office hours)

AfriMan - are we being routed through a different IPC now? Were issues finally identified with the CPT one?

There are two issues people are discussing at present. The first is that Business Accounts, which are meant to be completely unshaped, are in fact being shaped. This is being denied by AH, even though it's trivially proven by switching between a Business account and a capped account.

Agreed - The first point is the point I am interested in clarifying.

Now can Afriperson please confirm or deny.
He has said "Business is unshaped'' and users are saying the opposite. So, all I want AH to do is confirm, so that should he shape my business account I can squeal like a hog.... :D:D

As for point two, I feel for the guys in CT albeit I am not in that area. I have had a similar experience with another ISP - poor performance and of course it was blamed on everything but the dog, while in fact in had to do with capacity.

Looks so:

We are experiencing high network demand in the South and East (Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban), resulting in real time services being affected on Uncapped accounts. This infrastructure is expected to be upgraded within 3 weeks, which will resolve the congestion. We appreciate your understanding whilst we await completion of the upgrade.

It's crap that we had to find out about it via Axxess though. Afrihost wasted so much time troubleshooting.

And it's still not on the AH network notices page. They are the same company.

Not really. Afrihost owns Axxess yes, and they use the same network, but they are different companies.

Looks like it's better to be with Axxess as they are at least honest about issues.

While I'm still on this product, whats the best value capped product available that doesn't have performance issues atm?

Saw them, seem to have a browser issue here, something is being blocked - do they have a 30 day notice period?

Here:

What if I want to upgrade, downgrade or cancel?
You can upgrade or downgrade your home capped package at any time simply by logging into our DSL management console online and choosing your new package. Upgrades are instant; downgrades are activated at month end if initiated before the 20th of that month. There are also no contracts so if you want to cancel your service, you just give us a calendar months' notice - it's as simple as that.

Thanks

Meh..30 days
suppose you could downgrade to lowest one and then cancel.

I'll look into it at home, might signup this evening.

Afrihost, what the hell is going on with your business accounts?!

Torrents on business, given 10 minutes to get going:

Torrents on capped, also given 10 minutes:

I thought these accounts had identical priority on the network? I also tested with my free Web Africa 1GB account and it performed the same as the AH capped account.

I think its safe to assume that Afrihost did NOT expect the hordes of people signing up for Business Accounts to download so much stuff. Well that is my opinion anyway

Demand simply seems higher than the bandwidth available

Doubt you'll be happy with the home account if you on Afrihost Business.

Taking all the issues into account MTN is having lately I'd rather suggest:

http://www.webafrica.co.za/business/adsl/

Afrihost Business hasn't been able to stream 720p in the two weeks I've had it, download have also continually fluctuated from about 1/3 line speed. Support is terrible, virtually not existent, and there is no way I'm paying a premium on a 10MB product and waiting weeks for it to get sorted.

Thats why I'm now looking for a capped connection.
