Must I spell it out for you? I've given various options.
Get a temporary realm on another provider's backbone (SAIX/IS) on it's own IPC and transit, give us accounts on there, and carry the costs thereof... It's NOT rocket science...
Guys please stop complaining about the service, you account will get canceled which has happened to mine, I am now phoning their accounts department and will keep you posted.....
So apparently Afriman, AfriPeople can just cancel you account, @Afriman I have re-activated my account.
I do not see how me expressing my views on a open forum is grounds for cancelation, cancelation which I opposed.
This is interesting, my account all of a sudden is running exactly half my correct speed, its like its been limited on purpose.
We discussed this several times in the past, and there is difference between expressing feedback, and basically spamming the thread to the point where other forum members complain and also no longer feel comfortable to post their feedback. You previously promised NOT to do this, which is not the first time. Unfortunately, when a business relationship reaches this level of animosity and name calling, it makes more sense to part ways.
It's not personal, it's really the best decision for all parties concerned.
I would just like to know more detail about the redundancy plan you briefly mentioned in this thread a good couple of pages back. You said that measures have been put in place so that the current situation will never happen again. I am a tech-head so i would just love to know more detail about this for interest sake.
I think discussing this rather than the problems at hand will possibly clear the air a bit and possibly re-assure current clients.

You cannot just go and cancel someone's account for expressing their views, please show me where I called anyone names, I stated my opinion on why the notice for IPC is not on the website.
I will further this matter....
PS if you are going to be adamant to cancel my account please transfer my line back to telkom with immediate effect and refund me for last month and this month which I just paid R 1500 for.
All these details have been conveyed to you in multiple messages.
Sorry that it came to this, truly. I really wish you all the best going forward![]()
AfriGuy, has my PM gotten lost in the wilderness?
Thanks
We're definitely not throttling accounts or anything like this. What tests have you run?
WTF this sucks, can't game to save my life right now, getting horrible ping in BF4.
I have run the speedtest on speedtest.net and the speed tests on the myadsl forums
I get the following : Ping 9ms, 3.84Mbps, 0.89Mbps
This is on a 8MB business uncapped account. I upgraded on Saturday, and since then its been fine, last night it started to crawl, and this morning its now at half speed.
I'll double check with our team to see if there is any residual effects from the IPC issue yesterday. As far as I can tell the general network seems to be performing well.
Will let you know if we come up with something on our side![]()
As I've mentioned before, you can't just peel off a few thousand users and send them to a different network. It will require hundreds of hours of Dev work, creating multiple realms (and DNS clusters to support them) as well as registering them with Telkom etc (which doesn't happen overnight). Also, the costs of simply jumping onto another network would be astronomical for far less bandwidth (so in terms of experience for clients - it would be worse), and as it is we operate very low margins on the bandwidth our clients purchase from us.
Sorry, that's simply not a viable solution in any scenario.
Wtf!? Afrihost can cancel someone's account without their consent because they hit a nerve?
This is beyond me.
That is ridiculous.
For shame Afrihost, for shame!
It's not something we do often, but at the end of the day any business relationship runs two ways. We always conduct ourselves professionally and courteously with our clients, I think it's not unreasonable to expect the same in return.
And the costs of your clients and businesses using your service loosing income? The small and micro SME that literally can close their doors due to the lack of adequate services supplied by Afrihost? That is insignificant I guess?
We're all tech savvy here (mostly). Personally, I would have no issues with being supplied a account, using OpenDNS/GoogleDNS, and being completely separate of your network. As a *temporary* solution, I see no reason why full integration is required at all. There's also no reason why SAIX/IS can't proxy AAA to your -existing- AAA servers, where you can simply re-write the realm name on your side, and your integration is completed. It's a 15 minute job, do you want the code? I'm not going to get into the technicalities of what can and cannot be done. I'm just going to say that I too, work with AAA, integration, broadband networks, etc. on a daily basis... I know what Telkom does/does not provide, and I know that technically there are very little, if anything required which Afrihost (or any significant ISP) would not have in place already.
The issue is that you're still looking at blue sky solutions whilst I'm suggesting hacks to keep your clients happy until the IPC is lighten up (there's a huge difference). Yes - I realize it's too late to do anything *right now* about this - point being is that it is something which could have, and should have, been done weeks ago...
That being said, I wish you all the best as a company, and I truly hope that you will not only sort out your IPC issues, but your company itself as well. Your network is appalling, your service is appalling, and you have pretty much lost every little bit of credibility you have left with me (and I'm sure allot of others too) after you've now started taking the actions of unilaterally closing user accounts, even though that there was no breach of service. If I was in jeanres' shoes, I would have fought you on every single front as long as I can, as hard as I can - JUST to make your life difficult.
MyBB != Afrihost, and you need to realize that very quickly. Next, you're going to close accounts because users blog about this saga? Or because they express their views on Facebook or Hellopeter? There is something like freedom of speech, and freedom of expression and the views that I, or others state in our personal and private capacity has absolutely NO bearing on Afrihost. Either whether I am an existing subscriber or not, is insignificant and irrelevant.
If you have a problem with what is being said on MyBB - take it up with MyBB. This forum is not owned by Afrihost. If you feel that we are slating or bad mouthing Afrihost, then stop giving us reason to do so. If you feel we are being unfair in our posts, take it up with the moderators - that's why they are there... If you *seriously* feel we are crossing the boundaries, take it up in a court of law. Simply terminating accounts for expressing views however is a very childish approach by Afrihost, to say the least.
