Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

Hey

We didn't automatically upgrade data, we only upgraded lines as Telkom upgraded them. The reason was that some clients preferred to keep the slower speed vs the higher cos of upgrading their data. We left it totally up to each individual client to decide.

Moving from Uncapped to Capped is usually effected at the end of the month, unless a pro-rata fee is paid, in which case it happens within 24 hours.

Thanks Afriman. Afrihost helped me 1am sunday morning.

Was really impressed.

Oh and I simply moved to the cap, because uncapped wasn't required anymore. The business account was never throttled so thanks for that :)

Really great to hear everything has been sorted out :D

Exchange congestion is independant of the ISP network. If you think of the ISP's network as the highway, congestion means someone is blocking your driveway. So it won't really matter which highway you use, until you remove the obstacle at the local exchange level, you're probably not going to experience faster speeds :(

Try out a free GB (as someone suggested) and you can see if you get a better experience.

thanks for the advice!

Still continual issues, I have reported this issue in September 2013, still waiting and hoping for a fix, but I have really lost hope as nothing seems to be done.

Has our team been in touch with you? I believe you've been running some troubleshooting with them.

yes, but they are current testing dstv, I think Twitch is a lost cause on your network though. I am waiting feedback.

I've seen some mixed results on this.
From the personal testing that I've done, some streams are 100s while others seem to buffer like crazy. Regardless, once we've tested DSTV streaming on our end I think it's worth querying Twitch too.

Thanks for the tests here.
Let's get this passed off to our team for some analysis - could you PM me your DSL username?

So still haven't heard anything even though I send the account details through as requested, not even an acknowledgement from AfriGuy that it was received. Almost been a week. Oh well. Still excited waiting for the 1st.

Odd thing is the buffering is only on the Afrihost account, log on with test accounts from other ISP's and there is zero buffering.

Same thing here.. Officially down graded my account. Using this to finish my downloads urgently but service went down painfully the last couple months. Dark Souls multiplayer keeps timing out and Battlefield keeps trying to connect.

YouTube and Netflix seems to be a known issue so not even going to mention those.

I've reported on livechat that I'm not happy with my speeds for the 6mbit business uncapped. Speeds are not reliable at all.

If I pay for a 6mbit service I would expect that one would get that speed at least 80% of the time[or at least getting speed in that ballpark].

Waiting for feedback.

I definitely did see your PM, I'll have a look at things for you now.
Sorry if I didn't reply :(

Sorry to hear that you aren't happy with the speeds of the account, do you have a speedtest that I can have a look at?

I get full d/l speeds though-out the whole day. Loving Afrihost atm.

Anyone else having slow throughput in the southern suburbs Cape Town? Local speedtest is prefect while international is crawling.

Last Result:
Download Speed: 2105 kbps (263.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 520 kbps (65 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 166 ms

There could be an issue on the core network that we are busy investigating. I don't have more information on the issue or how it might present in terms of performance, but we'll keep looking into this.

Generally throughput to the UK should be excellent, so this is definitely not consistent with what I've seen in tests. I'll run some more tests from my home line this evening to confirm as well :(
