Just an sms to say there is an outage.
You could have also checked the afrihost status page with your EDGE connection, the message is right there !

or your backup mweb account, i was actually still able to reach the page even with the dodgy connection

Looks like the South is back up and running. We're still monitoring closely to ensure it stays that way (we may or may not have the Telkom people hostage until we're satisfied with the results).

Thanks to everyone for your patience, and once again we are truly sorry for any inconvenience that this evening's outage may have caused.

Not sure what fritz box is - are you running via an exchange server? or is this a strange sort of bridge mode?

Doesn't look like the issue is on the network :(

Fritz box is my modem

Latency to your first hop (router) is too high, should be 1ms. Try with a LAN cable directly plugged into router.

EDIT: I see your telkom account is fine, still something weird with the latency to your router :-(

Your ISP account can't affect your latency to your router - there is definitely something else going on. We ran tests with other clients and partners in the South - all show speeds and latency is perfect now :(

These are by far the best accounts I've used to date.

6Mb account on a 10Mb line.

My R899 including line rental Cybersmart account still gives this Afrihost Business account gears but time will tell.

Tested this morning by way of a download cocktail of Youtube vids, Torrents and Rapidshare...

Things are looking generally healthy on this side, could you post up a traceroute please?

I've PM'd those to AfriMan.

Funny thing is that I'm having issues since my line has moved over to Afrihost which is only a few hours. My SNR is down from 31db to 26db as well.

Traceroutes show completely different results even when run one after the other. My speed test results seem to have stabilised though. Will test with the capped account as well.
