@AfriGuy

International ok?

All looking good from here.
Are you seeing slow download speeds on other sites too?

I am actually having the same problem. Last night the Windows update failed twice trying to download 18MB. I have not tried to test other download sites to see if it affects all downloads. On the road at the moment. Will check when back.

I only saw this when Windows updated the 2.8MB file.
Have not tried something else.

Do both of you guys have the protocol prioritisation switched off?

@AfriGuy

Spoke to soon.
Curremtly flying.:D

Need to check AfriGuy mentioned it the other day.
As far as I can remember I switched it off. Don't need it.

Have you been in touch with our guys to have a fault logged?
I know it's frustrating, but Telkom really do need to come out and have things sorted out :(

Yes. I got a call from Afrihost yesterday, and line magically worked fine for the whole of last night.
But this morning is was terrible again. Fault is still open.

But to get a Telkom tech here will be a miracle. The last time I struggled and in the 11 months it took to sort out the line issue, there was a dude here once....

The only thing Telkom "techs" ever say when they phone is that we are too far from an exchange and they will drop the line speed down to either 1Mb or 2Mb. But when you tell them repeatedly that the line worked perfectly fine at 10Mb in January 2012 (when we first got ADSL), the less they listen. Bunch of palookas.

It could be that the copper has degraded in/ around the area, worsening the stats to replicate your premises being further away from the exchange than it actually is. Please keep our team updated on this, it's the easiest way to consolidate the info and have it all passed onto Telkom.

I had a connection problem for 3 days this month 5-7 April, I was given a credit of R20 as I was told this lack of service was related to a Telkom issue. My problem is my adsl is linked to a specific telephone number, so if I cannot use my service then surely I should be credited for the entire service?

I called accounts, and got this sorted out but the attitude of the accounts person I spoke to is far from good. Just the attitude, raising their voice, not impressed at all. After eventually getting through to Accounts (after being disconnected 3 times), the phone gets answered "I am listening" Interesting way to answer the phone!

Supersport still never plays any live streaming, so there is very little improvement after the 20% upgrade. Extremely disappointing, and this is also after hours when ther load should be minimal.

From my reports of last night, demand dropped significantly around 22h00 last night, I don't know if there were general CT issues on the DSL network that may have caused some issues (I know there have been several in the last week).

For now, demand seems to be picking up as normal. If you are experiencing the same low throughput and high ping issues, please post a speedtest and traceroute, and also mentioned which part of Cape Town you're in. I'll check with our support team for corresponding reports from our incoming support calls.
