and you tell me there is nothing wrong, please we are not idiots.

I don't think anyone is calling anyone an idiot. Networking issues are pretty complex, and I'll admit I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to this stuff. But it does look to me like whatever is happening is probably on Twitch's side, probably changes to block pings, maybe for security.

Afriman, the issue can be present anywhere in the network. Unless you have the ability to check where packets are being dropped a tracert is only going to give you a an indication. The further down stream the issue is, the greater the effect on real time services.

If you were to proxy/remote to somewhere in your london break-out with a means that displays packet loss (because it encapsulates the traffic over a L2 protocol for example) you'd be able to isolate the problem and trouble shoot (proxy will see the same shaper, VPN/L2TP or similar won't). If I for instance use a VPN to a local intl provider and get much better performance, that allows me to isolate to at least some extent where the problem arises.

Some of the real time streamers don't buffer the full video or don't use only TCP packets, meaning that erratic packet loss leads to short buffering (like I get to EU news sites for example over your intl backbone, a problem that disappears when I use a SA hosted VPN)

I know you have not called anyone an idiot, its the frustration coming out as things are not improving. When I had my trial accounts, Twitch had no issues, so why would they have security issues etc when using Afrihost? I have the same issue with Supersport and dstv streaming, all it does is stream and the video quality is not that great. Youtude I can what 1080p videos fullscreen with no streaming/buffering at all.

Did you submit that ticket off to our team?
Drop me a PM with the ref# and I'll have your points and queries brought up with our network team :)

Fully understand you're frustrated, lets work together to get this sorted out though :)
If you haven't already, try the same streams using the free capped account - I escalated a query through to our guys yesterday who are investigating.

If we can get a bit more info from your account we might be able to spot a trend.

Will do so tonight, can only test after work hours.

I raised a ticket for the unbundling of my line and cancellation of service except for the free 1GB capped service.

From time to time I might give it a go just to see out of interest whether MTN has sorted their network. If so, I would provide such feedback in thread too. If you wish further contact, I am open to diagnose with your team initiated by a PM from your side. I won't have much access to my home line for the next few days though.

I think we discussed this at length yesterday in the other thread, you clearly have some views and options you'd like our network team to look into.
The easiest way of getting this done is by you sending in a ticket :)

For a combined traceroute and ping, you can try WinMTR http://winmtr.net/. It's come in quite handy with tracing network issues in the past, especially when trying to diagnose slow network service.

My tracrts are similar to people in this thread RE:Southern Suburbs

also ping to CS:GO 150ms (normally 30-60ms)

Youtube crawling at the moment. 480p videos are buffering!

Morning guys

Really concerning to see posts about streaming last night :(
I was on a bit of a YouTube binge last night and didn't notice any issues on my end. Did you guys manage to grab any tests?

We'll need to try and replicate what you're experiencing. I also tested a bit of YouTube on capped last night - watching some epic Mike Mangini drum solos (not all HD though), and didn't experience any buffering.

Speeds are crap today for some reason. Getting 4Mbit speeds and below on my 8Mbit account. Speed tests are around 2.5Mbps. Have rebooted router. Hopefully things will go back to normal very soon, because I intend to stream some HD BBC iPlayer this evening.
