Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

Been two weeks for me now experiencing shaping on business.

I know afrihost claims it is not shaping, but the experience and end result is identical to what other ISP's call shaping.

I can achieve 20mbps if I use multi threaded http downloads, my nntp never goes above 50% line speed, except when switching to a competitors product.

I really hope they get their **** together.

Agreed... same 2 weeks here.... for me it was the Sunday evening / Monday morning before iOS8 Wednesday. Have a ticket open, got no response to it in a week. CZ not working, so can't recreate port to see if that will help - EISH, another 2 weeks in front of my PC doing tests and complaining. It's April all over again :(

Not good tonight.

Sorry! This is a load of nonsense. A spike in demand is short and sharp. This has been going on for about 6 weeks now. This is clearly a lack of capacity and nothing else. You are collecting the full invoice amount from yoour clients and delivering about 10% of the value, That is about as close to fraud as you can get. You still attribute the problem to a "spike in demand" and continue to deny that the problem is within the AH network. You refuse to give a reasonable explanation as to why it is only AH that has been affected by this "spike". I do notice, however, that it is no longer blamed on the IOS update as that has clearly run out of credibility despite your best efforts! FYI it was never really credible as other ISP were not affected and you refused to explain that anomaly.

Very well put, agree 100%

11PM now and the account is flying. You guys definitely have huge capacity issues. Another IPC upgrade required by the look of things..

I read that the problems have been going on for 6 weeks!!

TO AFRIHOST:

Subject: Termeniation of service within the cooling off period

GUYS ITS SIMPLE...They simply don't have enough capacity, period.

All the "qos tweaks" they doing are nothing more than an attempt to distribute their capacity fairly.

This bull*%* that business accounts are not shaped etc, who cares, it makes no difference. If you shaped or if there is high contention makes no difference, the end result is slow speeds to the user.

Same MTN links causing trouble... and it isn't even 11:00 yet :(

Morning guys

Just in response to general issues here, we are definitely seeing lots of improvement across the board in terms of throughput and latency. As far as Business clients go, you should definitely be seeing better speeds than the end of last week and beginning of this week.

We're still monitoring the network and we must troubleshoot issues being reported now to ensure that we address network issues and separate them from general day to day line issues, etc.

If you can achieve the throughput in whatever way possible, then it cannot be a limitation according to my understanding of how our shaping system works. All traffic for shaped services is shaped to a certain policy, not each service individually. Again there is no shaping on Business and we need to look elsewhere to explain what could be happening here.

I don't see improvement in PE

I find this totally unacceptable, since the speed issues I have noticed no improvement. I requested a refund for the poor service and was credited with R50! We cannot continually do tests. Fix the network, or rather stop being and ISP, you seem unable to provide the product we are paying for. How many more weeks of excuses will there be? Last time it was because the IPC updates were not on time, and now its blamed on the Apple updates, all bull.

I can see how from an individual perspective this seems frustrating, but you might also want to look at it from an overall network perspective. You may not want to hear or believe the data, but there is definitely a correlation between the demand and the release of the last Apple update. Also, the decrease in demand in the days following the release certainly proves that this was the case.

I know we make our share of mistakes, but I think many clients feel we're a good service provider and I feel we always do the best for our clients with the resources we have.

I am not interested in what is happening on the network, what other users experience. I pay for a 8MB business account that currently operates at 2MB. I should therefore be charged for a 2MB account until you have sorted out your network problems. If you don't have the resources stop giving away free data, or limit taking on new customers.
