Afrihost Capped ADSL Feedback (MTN) - New beginning

Afriguy/Afrigenie...someone...

Just because everyone doesn't log a ticket doesn't mean there's no problems...take this thread...the last 6 or so pages...all from the weekend basically...then compare the complaints with eachother...almost everyone complaining has just about the same problem, which is useless speeds while on AH account, but much better speeds when switching to a different ISP. And as far as I can tell everyone that's complained over the last 5 or so days, are all from Cape region. That means it's not our hardware, and it's probably not Telkom's hardware either...as the traffic to another service provider has to go through Telkom's lines/exchanges etc...so that only leaves you Afrihost...somewhere in your system there are problems...

So please stop asking everyone to post screenshots etc...most of us can't do it when you want as the problem is at home and we are at work during the day...

If it hasn't been already...please escalate this issue so that it can be sorted out once and for all.

/on behalf of everyone else also having issues :/

I promise you, we're well aware of the issues discussed here and our Social Media channels. It all runs through listening channels and definitely gets passed through to the right people.

Well this is amazing its not even 5 and I have that much packet loss to TS3 Typefrag server and yes CW and WA have 0.

I am seeing a slight increase in latency in the East, but should be marginal. Other regions are showing stable latency at the moment. Your ping seems OK considering this looks like an international server. Are you able to run an MTR tests so we can see which hop packet loss is occurring on?

13th Hop over 80% packet loss, I am from cape town not the easy so I always have this packet loss but usually only after 6 now it is in the middle of the day.

Looks like all the packet loss is within the Amazon network. Definitely seems to be fine while you're still on our backbone :(

Hey Afrihost!

Since Telkom is now again the cheapest capped 10Mbps bundle, will Afrihost be giving us a reason to stay?

http://mybroadband.co.za/news/adsl/128020-telkoms-cheapest-10mbps-adsl-deal-ever.html

I know with Afrihost you get 50GB cap additional, but Telkom has softcap, that I personally have seen doing double the data offered.

We're still finalising how the Telkom wholesale deals will affect us, which I guess is good timing seeing that Double Data on Capped was set to be revised at the end of this month. We should have some news soon either way.

So you say that is amazon that was an international TS server so I went and checked a SA teamspeak server so no leaving the country or anything this is an MGO teamspeak server :

Still seeing packet loss only outside of our network. It may mean that both servers are using similar or same irregular ports. Really difficult to say. When we've tested TS on official ports, it works perfectly with most well known gaming titles.

Cancellation at any time before the 25th will be pending until month end but you have full use of your data up to that point.

One thing I would say here is that we've seen Guest accounts outperform ISP accounts and we believe this may be because they route differently to ISP accounts (i.e. not through IPC and possible via different infrastructure). A ISP to ISP account is definitely preferable as this is a more direct comparison. You could also be using services which are using bandwidth, like a torrent, which are blocked on the guest account so that extra bandwidth immediately becomes available.

Drop me a PM, I'll be happy to assist you with a better test example, or maybe to improve your experience, even if it's just until you decide whether you still want to cancel or not.

But with capped ports should not matter...

LoL absolutely unplayable. A high amount of packet loss, it's gone when I swapped over to WA.

But why then does it work on Web Africa and CW? If it isnt your network what changes that afrihost is having packet loss and 2 other ISP's arent? I have people on both TS servers saying there is no problem?

Yes I have a capped account, I am in cape town. Both an international and local ts server ONLY on afrihost have packet loss yet its not on your network? so what is happening between your network and these 2 totaly different networks that WA and CW arent having issues with?

And to the above yes LoL is totaly unplayable im playing ranked on CW atm and its fine I got dropped playing on afrihost earlier.

No man common. Read the mans trace route properly:

| 196.44.0.74 - 0 | 148 | 148 | 7 | 11 | 74 | 8 |
| 1122.te0-0-0.cpt-pr-1.optinet.net - 5 | 123 | 118 | 12 | 21 | 91 | 38 |

These are the two hops were it goes from no packet loss to 5%
This is the hop where it leaves the MTN network. This means the link between MTN and optinet.net is having issues. Now this does remain your responsibility.

Sorry to hear :(
I ran a bit of LoL testing early last week and things seemed OK. Could you paste up some logs here from http://logsoflag.com/ please?

Think this is the game. Really don't want to run tests for you anymore. I have posted multiple tracerts already.

Think this is the game. Really don't want to run tests for you anymore. I have posted multiple tracerts already.
Code:
2015-06-02T15-38-54: LogOut_File: : logfile started
2015-06-02T15-38-54: Net Status: low-level initialize success.
2015-06-02T15-38-54: Note that this new version (12/19/2011) has reduced the frequency of updates so the numbers will be larger
2015-06-02T15-38-54: time = time of logging
2015-06-02T15-38-54: address = address of IP address
2015-06-02T15-38-54: incoming = total size of messages set to me in bytes. Spikes can indicate lag.
2015-06-02T15-38-54: outgoing = total size of messages set from me in bytes. Spikes can indicate lag.
2015-06-02T15-38-54: app_ctos = client to server bytes delta excluding overheads (app data only)
2015-06-02T15-38-54: app_stoc = server to client bytes delta excluding overheads (app data only)
2015-06-02T15-38-54: loss = number of packets lost. Can indicate lags. Some node on the network is dropping packets or taking to long and we have to resend them.
2015-06-02T15-38-54: sent = number of packets sent. Spikes can indicate lag.
2015-06-02T15-38-54: ping = how long it takes for a packet to get back and forth. Spikes can indicate lag.
2015-06-02T15-38-54: variance = how much the ping is changing from avg ping. Spikes can indicate lag.
2015-06-02T15-38-54: reliable delayed = This occurs when we drop reliable packets from sending this frame because we are sending to much data. Unreliable are more likely to be dropped than reliable.
2015-06-02T15-38-54: unreliable delayed = This occurs when we drop unreliable packets from sending this frame because we are sending to much data.
2015-06-02T15-38-54: app update delayed = This occurs when the app is taking to long to run code caused by network packets (ie CPU) and packets are delayed until the next frame
2015-06-02T15-38-54: Time spent in critical section (frame) = This is the time the network thread is blocking the main thread from doing anything.
2015-06-02T15-38-54: [time], [address], [incoming], [outgoing], [app_ctos], [app_stoc], [loss], [sent], [ping], [variance], [reliable delayed], [unreliable delayed], [app update delayed], [Time spent in critical section (frame)]

You should be seeing a significantly more stable connection to LoL than you are currently getting. The logs from Logs of Lag are exactly what the Team will need to figure out what is going on.

Was working fine before that (I tested a co-op bot game before that and had no issues, 178ms ping), but the next game with people it just died. Skype was still working, just the quality became slightly bad. Swapped over to WA after 15min about (that is why the average is lower than it actually should be) to finish the game. Have played 3 LoL games on WA (going into another hexakill now).
