I still can't connect... I'm in the Cape Town City Centre...

On the call to Afrihost now...

These issues should mostly be resolved by now. I see Telkom have now closed pretty much all the outage notices on their noticeboard.

Is there anyone that is still offline after yesterday?

Yup, still can't connect to Afrihost account - how come I can connect to FNB Connect? These 3 free GB's aren't gonna last very long...

Seems like a few people could in certain areas. It's probably to do with allocation of IP addresses at the exchange level. I know some of the other major ISPs were also affected.

We're still busy optimising to provide the best experience. I know that some of the changes take a few days, so the process of updating the management software is ongoing over the next week or so.

Malmesbury was one of the first to be reported and was down for most of the day yesterday.

Should have come back up overnight though. Can you confirm?

Is there any chance of having your network engineers look at optimising/prioritising twitch.tv traffic? Trying to stream from there has become an exercise in frustration recently, switching to lower and lower quality just to maintain a watchable stream, and then giving up entirely as even low quality stops to buffer on a 20mbps line.

Well that is weird my Internet work the whole day yesterday, when to bed at 23:00. When I woke up this morning it's down. Tested my telkom and afrihost account both not working. Both accounts authenticates correctly and gets and ip address but when I try to connect to a website, chrome times out every time

Twitch is one of the services that does come up every now and again and we have logged several issues with MTN and with Twitch directly via MTN. We'll continue to see what can be done to improve performance :(

It sounds like it could be a DNS related issue. Especially if Telkom made changes overnight. Try flushing your DNS and then reconnecting. Also use dynamically assigned DNS rather that static or custom DNS to test (if you are using an external service like Unotelly or Google DNS).

If none of that works, please PM me so I can check on your line and account :(

Authentication issues with email.... once again cannot access WebAfrica hosted email accounts on AH.
This is true for Capped and Uncapped Business.... I switched a client onto my WebAfrica capped account, and email working again.

What i want to know is why is the latency so erratic?

Some evenings it sits on a decent 163ms to Europe and then seems to fluctuate to 204ms to 226ms. Last night it was on 240ms.

Latency will always fluctuate to some extent based on local Telkom exchange demand, and international routes. The issues with Telkom's network yesterday probably caused a very erratic experience for many people.

Did you run any traceroutes so we can see where latency seems to spike or behave strangely?

No, I didn't run any traceroutes. I noticed that there was issues yesterday, so just put it down to general telkom issues. Generally my latency is never over 203ms. Funny enough though, when i was on uncapped my latency never increased to over 170ms unless i was downloading something. If it continues i will do some traceroutes. On another completely different matter, i was recently informed that our area supports 20mb ADSL. I queried if this was VDSL or ADSl and was told it is ADSL, is this correct? are some areas equipped to handle 20mb ADSL?

Some areas are indeed, it's very dependant on your line stats though.
Drop me a PM with your number and I can have a look at the availability in the area :)

Afriman. Still no updates on the VDSL line price cuts?

Also wouldn't mind something along the lines of that Axxess DNS services as well

You guys bought Axxess though so what gives? Please don't force me to move over to them :(

No news on any prices cuts just yet I'm afraid :(
We don't have something to match the DNS offering that Axxess has, nothing confirmed at this stage.
