Buffer buffer buffer on twitch. I can't do higher than medium. I left AH business uncapped because of the streaming issues. I was streaming high for months without issues. The last week has been pretty terrible.

That's hilarious!! This thread is full of complaints related to streaming and astroboi89 knows this otherwise he wouldn't have asked. Streaming is probably the single biggest factor contributing people leaving Afrihost.

We are definitely updating our software on our network management/shaper systems. We're quire optimistic that this will make a significant impact.

...but you have to admit. This has been going on for about a week now, and it's not getting better?

When do you expect to have these issues resolved?

Saying you're working on it etc etc is BS. If there is a person working on the problem, that person should have an idea of when he/she will complete the task at hand....

Contacted AH support. They did the normal thing. Reset port, etc etc.

We are working and testing streaming services where we can to ensure that are aware of any issues. In general, we don't seem to be able to replicate some of the issues, for example with YouTube. However we are also addressing issues with overseas based services like Twitch and Netflix where we receive reports :(

Your stats seems mostly fine. I think if we can see the latency and throughput you're getting on international, this may show us more specific info on this :(

We are definitely looking into this. I believe some changes have already been deployed but can only take effect in a few days, I guess it has something to do with making live changes on the system.

If we don't see the results we expect then we'll obviously continue to address this from other angles :(

We are definitely working on this, but this is not really a simple issue that a programmer can resolve in a back office. It involves teams of engineers, consulting with various departments within MTN and partners, testing changes in a controlled environment, visiting data centres and reconfiguring firmware etc. We expect that the changes we've proposed will start to take full effect within the next few days, and we'll monitor and test further from there.

During the day I have no issues, but as soon as the evening progresses, I need to change accounts, or streaming feels like I'm back in the 90's on a 14400 baud modem. Even Youtube streaming is terrible, which is weird seeing as they have local content mirrors.

I am aware of Afrihosts issues with streaming.I lasted a total of 2months with Afrihost and then moved to WebAfrica.I am happy with WebAfrica but considered moving back to Afrihost,due to the extra data promo.I would rather pay more and get a decent broadband experience from WebAfrica.The thing that annoys me is that the Afrihost representative on mybb sugar coats everything:"we are working on the issue and it will be resolved soon",They have been experiencing issues for more than a year now.This forum has helped me realise that many isp's are pulling the wool over our eyes.How does any company representative claim that everything is fine and there are guys on the forum that prove packet loss,internatiomal issues and streaming difficulties.
I personally will choose an isp that is reliable and it doesnt seem to be Afrihost.I think i experienced 1 issue with WebAfrica vs a weekly issue with Afrihost

Straight afterwards I'll do a speedtest and it'll give me 7-8mbps down, 0.89mb up, and a normal ping, indicating nothing wrong. But if there's nothing wrong, then why the buffering?

All in all,, it feels like AH has been getting worse and worse these past few weeks/months, what a pity. Luckily for them I dont really feel there's a viable alternative, they seem to be the best of whats available.

Facebook videos have issues buffering on all ISP's that I've tried.

I've also for the past week or more experienced buffering when watching 720P + streams. My download speed is always max when i test it on Speedtest and my latency always seems pretty decent. I have however noticed that when Playing LoL on the EUW servers, i get in game Lag. My latency varies between 163ms and 203ms which is fine. I at first thought it may be server lag, but turns out it isn't as I have a few buddies playing at the same time in the same game and they have no issues whatsoever.

I moved to afrihost capped account from telkom uncapped. Maybe it was a mistake because I have been noticing shaping on torrents and nzb's....is this normal on capped accounts? I can understand it on uncapped but capped?

I have to say. My experience is exactly the opposite. Apart from my occasional line issues, my 4mb line is streaming netflix and youtube just fine. Even bbc iplayer works well. Can't comment on torrents. Haven't had to in two months.
