it might be routing to differant IPC.

Like for instance I tried afrihost, Openweb on my line and had the same result.

That's the point, they're both just glorified resellers of the MTN backbone over which they appear to have no control and no visibility apart from user complaints. Try a non MTN based ISP, you'll be very surprised.

7:45 pm in Cape Town and 10mbps line is running at 25% of capacity again on a capped account.

On a brighter note, although not for AH, Vox is flying - liking their capped pay as you go with uncapped after hours/weekends bolt-on option for only R59pm...

how does this bundle work? is there a certain amount of capped data you have to purchase to use first or can you just use like 3 gigs and then have the bolt on?

Well, I'm now completely over it.

The connection has been useless during prime time for a week and a half now...I've been hoping it would get better, but to no avail.

I really don't want to move, but I can't use my bandwidth at the moment so what's the point.

Slow downloads, high latency and lag spikes in games, and I'm not having any issues with any other ISP. Very sad about what Afrihost bandwidth has degenerated into :(

Yup, my Afrihost account declined to about 50% of the line speed. Back on Telkom account now and flying at full speed. Something is wrong with Afrihost tonight

Well, I'm only getting about 4 to 5 Mbps of my 20Mbps line.

This aint cool, first time in while that I have issues streaming youtube clips.

I'm also getting half my speed when I do a speed test, but performance wise, even on 50%, I'm struggling to watch SD vids on youtube. My Diablo 3 is also very unstable and sometimes almost unplayable. Only did the speed test tonight though to find out that I'm getting 1.9mb on a 4mb line.

You guys are lucky.
I'm getting 1.1 Mbps on a 10 Mbps line :(

It's been progressively getting worse these last couple of weeks...NOT impressed what so ever.

You're lucky, all my AH accounts (capped and business uncapped) are being limited to 1Meg.
There are many others in the other AH threads experiencing the same limiting/throttling across the board.

Here's proof:

It is gobsmackingly unbelievable that despite the blinding obviousness of the current state of disrepair of their network, the AH network status page STILL persists in claiming that everything is fantastic. Clearly, having a huge user base means you don't need to bother to have after hours staff monitoring things, or apparently even care what happens on the network you're reselling as long as the cash keeps rolling in. Never have I seen an ISP treat it's paying subscribers with such disdain.

And we were told the MTN buyout would make no difference... pffft. I am so over AH.

Congratulations Afrihost, for managing to provide consistent ****ty internet between 7pm and 11pm.
Your consistency is admirable, and you should be dragged into the street and shot at dawn.

Wow, IOS8 update was released and my AH account has all but died. I quite literally had to wait 20 seconds for a 33k JPG to load. Can you guys not throttle the update traffic so it doesn't completely annihilate your network, over and above the current evening problems, now making it completely unusable?

Received this at 22:15

"Kindly note that we are not experiencing any issues with the IPC in Cape Town and all our accounts are okay. I have now ran a session auditor to clear all errors, please reboot your router and test again."

Why didn't I see this thread earlier.... spent the better part of this evening on the phone and running tests for the Afrihost agent I thought it was just me with crappy speed on my capped AH account, so I logged a call

They don't appear to have any visibility into the state of their network at all, so the support basically runs blind, and they are trained like automatons to always make out that it's just you, never ever about that the network is borked while keeping you busy running endless traceroutes for days.

From most of the posts, it seemed to me it was a Cape region problem. But clearly not. What is up I wonder ?
