Like for instance I tried afrihost, Openweb on my line and had the same result.
7:45 pm in Cape Town and 10mbps line is running at 25% of capacity again on a capped account.
On a brighter note, although not for AH, Vox is flying - liking their capped pay as you go with uncapped after hours/weekends bolt-on option for only R59pm...
Yup, my Afrihost account declined to about 50% of the line speed. Back on Telkom account now and flying at full speed. Something is wrong with Afrihost tonight![]()
I'm also getting half my speed when I do a speed test, but performance wise, even on 50%, I'm struggling to watch SD vids on youtube. My Diablo 3 is also very unstable and sometimes almost unplayable. Only did the speed test tonight though to find out that I'm getting 1.9mb on a 4mb line.
It is gobsmackingly unbelievable that despite the blinding obviousness of the current state of disrepair of their network, the AH network status page STILL persists in claiming that everything is fantastic. Clearly, having a huge user base means you don't need to bother to have after hours staff monitoring things, or apparently even care what happens on the network you're reselling as long as the cash keeps rolling in. Never have I seen an ISP treat it's paying subscribers with such disdain.
And we were told the MTN buyout would make no difference... pffft. I am so over AH.
Why didn't I see this thread earlier.... spent the better part of this evening on the phone and running tests for the Afrihost agent I thought it was just me with crappy speed on my capped AH account, so I logged a call
