Afriman, are you aware of any issues in the Cape Town, Sea Point area?

I got some serious packet loss when playing Diablo 3 right now, its unplayable.

Running a Trace Route

Windows
Click Start and type CMD in the search field.
Right-click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator.
Type tracert xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx > c:\tracert.txt and press Enter. Replace the x's with the appropriate server address.
Allow several minutes for the trace route to complete.
A file will be created inside your C: drive called tracert.txt that contains your trace route information.
Type exit and press Enter to close the command window.

Seems like there may have been some SMTP issues related to DNS - but not sure that this is what is causing your issues.

Can you give me some more detail about what problems you're having. Can you PM me?

Thanks Afriman. I sent you a PM

I don't know that there is a problem with our connectivity over WACS or EASSy, but there could be an issue elsewhere. Where do you see things go pear-shaped on a traceroute?

It doesn't go pear-shaped, according to traceroutes.

TheHunter is updating at 79KB/s now :(
Being busy with the above, everything else is dreadfully slow.

Streaming is rubbish to German sources. Buffering on SD video with 1.2mbps average throughput. Sent a ticket to support with screenshots. Just when one thought there was light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm now with Afrihost after canceling with Openweb. For the first time ever I can stream 720p video. Loving Afrihost!!!

I am in Cape Town Claremont, latency is also high.
Could you please post some stats about your problem? I'm in the CPT area and looking for a capped option. Last time I tried with Afrihost CPT was in shambles.

Some pingplotter stats would great :D

I'm not seeing anything particularly weird in the traces, so I don't think this is a latency problem. Also nothing on my monitoring. I did see a few business complaints about poor throughput around 7-8pm, and I saw a period of extremely high demand on the network in the South around 7-8pm that seemed to trail off only after 10pm. I'm checking with our guys if there was a problem managing the network around that time to ensure unshaped capped and business performance. With the DNS issue that was happening yesterday, that may have slipped under the radar :(

Traces don't reveal much - I think this was related probably more to throughput than latency. Check my previous post :(

That's truly awesome! I'm always grateful to have the trust of new clients - not easy rolling the dice with a new ISP!

Thanks, and welcome to our little family :)

Thanks, and noted. Will see how it is when I get home (although the cap is nearing its .... cap).

Not sure what happened there, your case was definitely passed on. Sorry that the manager did not get back to you. I'll pull up your details and follow this up for you :(

another PM sent, as well as email reply to useless support, 2 months and a week of this ticket since I opened it

and for good measure my current 40mbps throughput on a local speedtest: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3526542767

Throughput is terrible for me at the moment. Getting 5mbps on my 20mbps line.

That's horrible. What troubleshooting have you run?

Traceroutes were pretty much normal. Speed test fluctuated horribly from 3mbps to around 5mbps. Nothing was running on the line. Everything was usable except Twitch which buffered every 5 seconds :(
Seemed to have fixed itself later last night though :)

Hmmm, if this happens tonight, please note the times so I can look against the current demand on the network.
