Afrihost disappoints

I haven't had a fault on my line the entire time I've had adsl (6 years or so), can I have your permission to move it to Afrihost? I'd like to save the hundreds of rands that I would be paying Mweb. kthxbye.

Smoke crack much? You might save R100 over a few years by moving your line to Afrihost, but fail to see what that has to do with MWEB.

I have had my line managed by Nashua, Telkom and now Afrihost. Happy with all three so far, but I don't make many requests for my line. The afrihost bundle is well priced and I was very happy with their ISP service so it was a no-brainer.
I do have a very good contact at Telkom though :) log call, phone contact, never waited more than 24 hours for resolution.

Switching from Telkom to Afrihost was done almost instantaneously for me, although I did upgrade my line speed before switching to Afrihost (I thought it would be faster to deal with Telkom directly for this) which took Telkom a week to do (after me having to call them AGAIN and learning that they screwed up the first time round). Anyway I am quite happy with Afrihost so far.

I do have one question though, when the line speed of telkom is automatically upgraded (as they are busy doing) will it happen for the Afrihost accounts too?

+1? Automatically?

We'll be making the full announcement this morning at 11am about exactly how Telkom Upgrades will affect Afrihost Clients.

Will be some awesome news, so hope you guys will all tune in :)

Well done we want you guys to rock and change the ADSL landscape in SA thanks

Must say I wouldn't move my line either. Stick with Telkom for the line. That way you can buy your bandwidth from whoever you choose. My experience thus far is that while people complain about Telkom I have never actually had issues with them. With other ISP's, and this is only my experience, I have endless hassles.

Won't mention the ISP as it's mentioned in the OP but here is my example. I was with Telkom, moved to another ISP, was constantly either with no internet or no international bandwidth. This went on for nearly 6 months, each time I called it was either the upstream providers fault or Telkoms fault. I would call Telkom and they would tell me there was no issue with the line itself. Eventually moved back to Telkom and didn't have a days trouble for over a year. Finally due to the fact that I need a fair amount of bandwidth but don't want uncapped as I prefer being unshaped I moved back to this ISP. Over the last month I have been without internet on three occasions.

At least keeping the line with Telkom you can move your bandwidth with ease until you find the right ISP but don't get tied in with your line...

I moved my line to Afrihost months ago. I'm not sure I saved much money, and I've had zero issues, so I can't comment on support etc. But I'm glad I've moved. In the 10 years I've been back in SA I have clashed many times with Telkom. The less I have to deal with them, the better.
My 4meg uncapped line rocks. That's all I care about. I'm a fan of stuff that just works. And I'm paying less for it than when I signed up for it. Awesome.

When uncapped is unshaped and not subject to a bunch of terms and conditions then it will be in my sights. For now freedom of choice is the winner for me. Letting an ISP manage my line is not in my best interests.
