Afrihost explains ADSL problems

Sorry that little bit of PR release is a load of bull****

I was getting the exact same results on both my uncapped as well as my capped accounts.
Your little accounts department also has not had the courtesy of replying on my mail to them this morning.

Get rid of your "yes" men and actually get people who are not afraid of giving you the real facts of what is happening in your company.

78% of people in the poll thread say they are having problems.... Definately not a small portion of your subscriber base.

Thank god I have cancelled my uncapped account and am busy unbundling my telkom line.
Email is typed up for the Complaints Commision and just waiting for some more input before that goes in.

50ms increase from CT is 400%+ increase. By no means a small amount. Lets not mention how much speed we actually get off the accounts.

BTW I am in JHB , not CT and got 400ms+ ping while gaming to a server where before I was on 200-220ms ping before the move. So dont even try con me on the CT ms increase affecting me.
Oh and yeah after trying the "fix my line" it took 1.3 hours to get an answer from helpdesk (20 people in the queue) and 45 min longer before I could even use my line. No matter which ISP I used.

This think reeks of a short term knee jerk move with little to no planning and even less preconfig being done and no fallback.

Weren't able to open web pages this afternoon in Cape Town on a 50 GB capped account on 6 Mbps ADSL.

It's getting worse not better.

Cancelled.

Hi Gary

First off sincere apologies that we've let you down.

No question our network has given issues over the last few days.

We take full responsibility and I promise you that when I say we are working 24 hours a day I'm not exaggerating - It is our top priority to ensure that we give all of our clients the kind of experience they've come to expect from us.

We made changes today that I believe has improved performance across the network.

You have clearly lost faith in us - However, if you think that there is a chance that we can regain your trust please PM Afriman or email him on [email protected] and we'll do our best to restore your confidence.

My sincere apologies again and whatever you decide I wish you the best.

Gian

Hi Saajid.

I'm delighted that you are experiencing great speeds - It's our goal to get every one of our clients to your level of happiness!

Have a great eve!

Gian

I must say that I've had only good experiences since the switchover to MTN. It definitely is faster for me. I have a 4mbps uncapped bundle and a few capped accounts. My line was upgraded by Telkom to 6, then 8 and now 10mbps. My Afrihost capped accounts fly. I can download at about 990KB/s on HTTP, and on well-seeded torrents. My uncapped 4mbps account downloads at about 520KB/s (on a 10mbps line) when previously I would get max 430KB/s (on a 4mbps line), obviously due to the IP and other overhead no longer being a factor.

I am one of the few happy chappies? Is there nobody else with good experiences?

Hi biometrics

I'm sorry to hear about your terrible speeds. Something is clearly not right there - we would love to help you out - if you PM Afriman we'll do our best to get your Internet experience back to where it should be.

I sincerely hope that we can restore your faith in us and get that cancellation cancelled ;-)

Whatever you decide I wish you all the best in the future.

Gian

Gian, could I have my money back for the time period that I've been adversely affected, and for the rest of November, so that I can cancel my Afrihost account tomorrow and move to Openweb?

Thank you Gian ,it is good to see your concern for your customers.
Like Saajid , I have no regrets coming back to Afrihost .The best of luck to you and your network in the task ahead.

All looking good on my Afrihost account.

It sucks that they're having trouble, but I applaud their openness about it. Many other ISPs would have just swept it under the carpet and silently tried to fix it.

OK there's some weird stuff going on here, I'm on a 6Mb line and these results come from my axxess 2Mb uncapped account.

here's some MyBB speed tests:

Can anyone recommend an ISP to me that uses IS network?

Cybersmart is good, just switched to my cybersmart account from my afrihost one because it is just terrible and this is the speed I get on cybersmart:

On Afrihost I cant even get one tenth of that speed!

Getting good speeds at the moment

But I have been getting great speeds since the move. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones, but I seem to be able to load full HD youtube anytime of the day or night. Ping has increased quite alot, but I'm not a gamer so it doesn't really affect me, and throughput is great. I'm getting a better experience on Afrihost at the moment than I was on Openweb Gold a while back.

Visser concluded saying that they are aiming to make their clients’ experience amazing: “I encourage any MyBroadband user who has not been happy with their ADSL connection’s performance to e-mail [email protected] with feedback and we’ll do our best to help”.
Brave man...

All I ask is for your accounting department to reply to my mail that was sent this morning at 09h02 from gary.waterwort@s............

The lack of response is starting to remind me of my problems experienced with Iburst accounting, although I must admit you have some way to go before you get as bad as them.

Yes you have lost my faith. Price and Performance are high in my book , even though I am paying more now than what I was paying I consider where I am now of more value.

Regards

Hi Gary

I will chase that up for you.

We aim to be the best in both Price and Perdormance - clearly we have failed you in this instance but I hope that one day you will try us again and be delighted that you did.
