Hi AfriGuy,

I used to have the 5gb 3g deal, then cancelled. Now I wish to sign up for 250mb @ R29, but I can't find any mention at all on any of the emails I received from Afrihost of what the cell number is. From what I can see on the signup page, you can't use your existing sim without knowing the number...

Advice would be appreciated :)

Bump. Hard to believe I'm the only person in this boat?

It seems the very first sim cards were simply called "pre-order" on the email and invoice, so no mention of the sim number anywhere.
Plonked the sim in a phone but not even a MTN "Please call me" works.

Without resolution I've decided to steal someone else's afrihost sim, gleaned the sim number from the invoice and added data on it on my account.
Case closed.

On a speedtest everything looks awesome http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3142282064, but with online games connecting to EU servers latencies are never lower than 700-800ms, whereas with 8ta's mobile data I get a steady 220ms, looks like this will be the first and only month I use afrihost :(

Sorry to hear that - mobile is never ideal for gaming. DSL is still the best option for reliable latency and throughput. Any reason you prefer Mobile to DSL for this purpose?

You should be able to see the number in ClientZone. Just check under Connectivity :)

No numbers there, only the Mifi device and ADSL accounts.

I suspect my sim slipped through the cracks somewhere :)
Will see if the other sim works today with the data I added to it. If so, all good.

Could be high demand in the area. Are you sure that it's full 3G signal? Is your device set to 3G only or have you checked on mifi.afrihost.com when connected that you're getting 3G signal?

Full 3g signal. Device set to 3G only. High demand....I don't think so..it was at 05H42 this morning.

Been moving around quite a bit the past couple of years, so the mobile option just seemed easier, but yeah think I'll get myself an adsl uncapped early next year, how does Afrihost's adsl uncapped deals work, hopefully no contracts or anything?

Received my sim card ordered. LTE sim. But it doesn't have network connection? On the client zone, it shows sim card as active and there is data on it.

I posted a page or two back about packet loss. I did some testing and it's only happening with overseas sites. For instance if I use cracked.com as the site to ping to then I get about 3% packet loss. However if I use a local site then there's no packet loss.

Interestingly enough I get very quick pings to local sites but international sites have very very high pings. In fact when I use Vodacom LTE I get pings of about 60ms to local sites and about 350ms to cracked.com. However on Afrihost (MTN) I get pings of 30ms to various local sites but about 600ms to cracked.com or similar international sites with some packet loss. The packet loss does not occur with the Vodacom LTE. Yet I have better MTN signal than Vodacom signal.

The packet loss only started recently. Maybe around end of last week. It makes images not load or forces me to reload websites.

*edit*
And now I'm not getting any packet loss at all. Weird. Will keep an eye on it.

I'm getting the same message though I have 18GB left??

And why is the message that ADSL is capped while I'm on mobile broadband?

We're seeing some of these errors when he session seems to get stuck. Usually a reboot works, or a refresh on all settings from our side.

Drop me a PM please if you're still experiencing this :(

Rebooted the router a couple of times last evening, but the problem persisted. This morning when I rebooted the router it looks the issue resolved itself.
