Afrihost Mobile review

The only nice thing about this deal is that you are not signing up for a contract, however, CellC's new Giga20 deal is a much better deal overall, if you don't need a device: http://www.cellc.co.za/cell-phone-deals/top-up/cell-c-giga-on-giga-20

There are plenty of deals out there designed to suit different needs, budgets, and coverage areas. We truly believe that our offering will meet these requirements for most (if not all) South African's. We have a huge network (and our LTE coverage was rated the best in SA recently) while offering a very low per GB rate for a month to month offer with no long term commitment or up-front cash commitment. Our packages work for you, the way you want - that's how we like to think they stand apart :)

My Afrihost works horribly; but it's more an MTN issue than an Afrihost issue.

Tested Telkom Mobile last night in Greenstone Mall. Got 10mbps down and 2mbps up with 34ms ping!!! My Telkom Mobile connection is just so awesome. I have clients all around Joburg and it works almost everywhere. Definitely has better coverage than MTN; well at least in my cases.

Sorry to hear that our Mobile offering isn't working out :(

I know I'm very late to this but damn this is an awesome product!

Just got me a Lumia 625 and signed up for the mobile package on my MTN contract sim and simply loving it!

Now just for some more LTE coverage in Cape Town besides mainly the CBD:cry:

I have been using Afrihosts Mobile APN in my mobile phone for about 3 months now. My iPhone 5S is always connected on the Afrihost APN.

I am extremely happy with this product, I always have connectivity, and in some areas I get blazing fast speeds. And given the large amounts of data iPhone consumes, the excellent pricing on this product makes it the perfect solution to my mobile data needs.

It gives me more options to enjoy my mobile phone like streaming from sound cloud in my car, and using the Acrobits VoIP softphone on my mobile.

The only issue I have experienced is with LTE. I had sent a request to "activate" LTE on my APN after reading that it is not activated by default, Afrihost was quick to respond to my request, but it seems to have not made any difference. I have very unstable or more commonly no connectivity at all when LTE is enabled on my mobile with Afrihosts APN.

But given how this product benefits me in terms of cost and performance, I am more than happy to overlook the flaw in LTE.

I am extremely happy with this product and recommend it everyone.

Has anyone actually used the Afrihost mobile data for online gaming? For example BF4 on local servers, Path Of Exile, Diablo 3 etc?

In short how is the latency national and international?
