Our unit is a ground floor on the crocodile just above the hide. I used an extension lead plugged into the plug next to the sliding door and using a cell charger, hung the mifi over the curtain rod. Gave good coverage over the whole unit and veranda. It has taken some trial an error dude - and a bit of luck.
We got here on Fri AM. I brought along my mifi, USB modem and Asus N66U. Idea was to use mifi while wondering around and Asus with USB modem for chalet.
First tried mifi in the lounge and got a weak 2G signal. Then tried the sim in the modem - same thing.
Then put my wife's Vodacom sim in the modem and got a 2 bar HSDPA signal. Better.
Yesterday I moved the Asus from the TV to the kitchen counter and stuck the modem to the top of the cupboard with sticky tape. Signal the same but slightly faster connection and better ping.
Late yesterday the modem decided to die.So last night when I hopped into bed I put my mifi on the bedside table and discovered pages were loading super fast and the mifi showed 4 green bars. Logged into it to see full strength 3G being reported by the mifi.
Problem now is the wifi strength is not so good through the chalet which is why I brought my Asus with.
I tried to use the mifi as a USB modem on the Asus but no go.
Probably going to head into town and go purchase a new modem today.

TIP: Reception has an open wifi hotspot with an 8meg line which can be raped while lying by that pool ;-)
Thanks for the tip. Was wondering where the hotspot was![]()
