Afrihost Mobile Speed Test

I don't have a screen grab of my speed test (at my office I only get 2G) but at home I am getting 8Mbps down and 1Mbps up. To give you an idea of how decent the connection is my ADSL was giving issues on Friday so I turned on my MiFi and connected to it. I was getting 60ms ping in BF3 and it was just as smooth as my ADSL usually is. Dota 2 runs like a charm and YouTube videos very rarely buffer.

I have already burned through 2.5GB in 2 days, the speed is addictive.

With the level of quality testing on devices nowadays it's VERY unlikely to find a faulty device. I've only come across one that may be faulty, and we still need to test it. These devices are factory tested and strictly quality controlled.

Think about it though, how often do you hear about a new cellphone not working out of the box? Pretty much never these days :)

Having said that, anything is possible. But from what I can see, all our devices are working 100%

I suspect that the faulty device you are talking about belongs to my friend. We have been chatting about the troubleshooting and it seems that his device is faulty but considering this could be 1 device in over 8,000 its less than 0.0125% DOA. Not bad by any standards. Hopefully you can help him out quickly.

Very good speeds at the office in Epsom Downs.
45ms ping
7270 kbps download
1329 kbps upload

Very awesome! Hope you're saving some internet for everyone else :)

Had it since Friday and took it on our road trip to Nelspruit from Pretoria. Served us very well.

I see some folks above are experiencing world-class internet speeds, nothing has changed but will tweak things move the device and see if anything actually improves.

Download Speed: 1282 kbps (160.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 921 kbps (115.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 127 ms

Did you force it to 3G only? If not give it a try.

Forcing to 3G only kills any possibility of any connection.
There is NO MTN 3G in the area (manual connect scan confirmed this)

Fortunately I only need the connection in Boschkop/ Tweedracht area two days a week - have to use my Vodacom phone there.

At Home in Murrayfield East Pretoria the speed is good .... when it wants to be.
In general the service is very erratic. Not good when you are trying to maintain a VPN connection.

2kb/s on 3G in Durban, La Lucia. Sigh.

Still 2kb/s faster than the Cell C sim I was trying to use.

Have you tried to climb on top of your roof? If you get 3G signal, maybe mounting inside your ceiling is an option
