You definitely shouldn't be seeing any latency on your 1st hop... How many devices do you have on your WiFi connection at the moment?

2 phones and this pc.

Come on Afrihost, what's going on here. Every night for two weeks now around the same time people in Cape Town come to this thread and report the exact same issue night after night. After you asked people to test a live stream link last night there was an influx of users reporting issues and you finally admitted there's definitely an issue going on with the network and will be looking into it, and now once again tonight when another person reports the EXACT same issue you ask him if how many devices is connected to his router!?

You said you can't do anything until people provide stats.
Time and time again people have provided stats each time this happens and they're the same each time.

I think we need a little but more reassurance on what you're doing to get it solved other than hearing "we'll escalate" every night.

Edit: Actually, nevermind, I figured it'd be better to cancel my 100gb Afrihost data account and keep the 20mb line and use data from a different ISP that works without issue (actually works out cheaper, surprisingly).

I've noticed my SNR decreasing of late, should I start to get concered over it? It was at 21db last month and its now nearing 10/9.5 mark and keeps going down... During the day it goes back to 12db.Untitled.jpg

Can someone make sense of my usage reporting for the month from Afrihost?

Apparently I've used 118.56GB of normal data so far this month:
1Ca5k1l.jpg

Which is supported by these stats:
fQpgSiM.jpg

The remaining data and used data add up perfectly to 270GB (pro-rata of 300GB since I didn't sign up on the 1st).

But this is my daily usage graph:
lGVDjq0.jpg

It's neither low enough to be normal data, nor high enough to include all data.

What am I missing?

Divide free time by 2 then add normal data.

Why would free time be halved though?

I reported this glitch 6 months ago, I see I'm not the only one affected, as they told me they not seeing a trend and it's only a few users - their standard response I guess until "social media" proves otherwise.

Maybe something will happen now, who knows.

one thing I do notice is, the 144, 360, 480p steams will run most of the time from

Image PID Address Send (B/sec) Receive (B/sec) Total (B/sec)
chrome.exe 6744 169-1-2-76.ip.afrihost.co.za 1*978 720*527 722*505

but 720, 1080P wont run it tries to run from
Image PID Address Send (B/sec) Receive (B/sec) Total (B/sec)
chrome.exe 6744 lhr25s02-in-f14.1e100.net 157 2*088 2*245

But when that all fails most of the time then the Stream Host connects to a 173.x.x.x or 74.x.x.x IP and it start streaming after a while.

Image PID Address Send (B/sec) Receive (B/sec) Total (B/sec)
chrome.exe 6744 173.194.128.87 1*180 450*784 451*964

Image PID Address Send (B/sec) Receive (B/sec) Total (B/sec)
chrome.exe 6744 173.194.151.124 862 237*085 237*947

Image PID Address Send (B/sec) Receive (B/sec) Total (B/sec)
chrome.exe 6744 74.125.100.184 140 696 836

Hhhmm, interesting results these. I'll let our team know :)
Thanks so much for posting these!

I've escalated a few accounts to our Dev team :)
Log a bug via ClientZone and PM me the ref# and I'll add your account to the open query.

If you aren't seeing any line drops it shouldn't be a concern :)
Anything over 7dB should generally give you quite a stable connection.

It's something we're working on :)
Sorry to hear you'll be cancelling with us, give me a shout if you'd like to run through some troubleshooting options to see if we can improve your experience.

But what's worrying me is the fact that it's slowly going lower and lower each day. Not had any drops. But would like to nip it before it does cut me off completely.

Telkom won't be able to review a fault if there isn't anything wrong though :(
Has your experience also been degrading?

Thats not an isp issue though, at least i think not...your line is going wonky if your SNR is dropping regularly. It seems that your line isnt stable enough, if there is inconsistency during the day and night.

You might want to get a techie in, to just do some tests and have a look.

My service has been degrading on a ISP level because every few days I experience high latency levels when I try play any online video game. I start noticing the high levels if the app I use to communicate with my friends comes up with a ping level of 100.

Tiny bit frustrated about it but I can only wait for your teams to solve your network instability. Please tell your CEO to stop these new campaignsuntil your network stability is at acceptable levels.

Yea you're right but Afrihost holds the line so your first contact is the isp so they can (if there is a issue) raise it on your behalf to the company that does hold the infrastructure.
