Luckily everything is cool, close to the big pool. :)

The most solid stats I ever did see :p
Yes, it is. I'm very fortunate to have such a stable line. It rarely drops below 8.6 Mbps which makes it perfect for testing. Afrihost haven't let me down either. :)

Indeed, very lucky to have such a stable line (and ISP ;) )

Damn, huge latency here :(
Also looks like you're on an older ESR, so could be exchange congestion of sorts.

Does using another ISP or the Telkom guest account show the same latency?

Like you said, your second hop is extremely bad.

Latency all gone again...

Using Telkom guest account to exchange and onward.

Latency all gone again...

Could be that switching between accounts has reset the port, keep me posted on any latency increases.
Is there another ISP you can test? The guest account isn't always the most accurate in terms of latency.

@Afriguy, is this a new scam doing the rounds?

"Good day

I trust you are well.

We have some Awesome news concerning your server and our hosting environment.
As part our our continued strives to make Afrihost hosting more robust, reliable and
affordable we have designed and deployed a brand new hosting environment for our
Windows servers. This new environment will necessitate a change of IP address as it
utilises a different IP range.

In order to migrate the server as efficiently as possible we require your Administrator password.
As you can imagine we would like to get the move done as soon as is possible although
you should note that we will have to power down your server during this time. The migration itself can
take a number of hours to complete so we can schedule this move for after hours if you prefer.
Without these credentials we will not be able to configure the new IP on the server
which will result in the server being inaccessible and unreachable until this has been done.

Your server will be Shut Down 11 June 2016 at 09:00am in order to complete
its migration to our new Virtual Environment.

Unfortunately, this move is not optional as the old environment is shutting down and we have
to move the servers as soon as possible to the new one.
Please do get back to us with the required administrator details.

The period of down time will depend on the size of the disks attached to your server,
with smaller disks taking a shorter amount of time. We estimate, under normal network
conditions, that a 300GB disk may be successfully migrated within a 8 hour window.

In summary,
Please respond As Soon As Possible with the administrator password for your server in order to
ensure the minimum amount of down time during the move.

Have a great day and please let me know if I can help with anything else!

Warm regards

Musa

MWEB???

Based on the traceroute it looks like you're in JHB, I'm afraid we're seeing issues in the area :(
AfriGenie posted about it a little earlier - there's also a notice up on our site.

Afternoon Gents!

Just a quick heads-up, it looks like we're seeing intermittent spikes in latency and reduced throughput on our Northern IPC, our Team is working with our Vendors to get this resolved ASAP.

Seem international feels rather slow on my side. Anyone else having the same?
