Then I am happy. Will just have to wait and see what the Assia effect will bring to the line.

So just more than a month for Telkom to 'Fix' my line.

If it can keep the results you're seeing then ASSIA is your friend :)
Keep us posted on how things go though!

My suggestion to you keep an eye on your line daily..if you start seeing ATT levels fluctuating and inconsistant sync speeds then you have a problem, ASSIA tends to drop your speed when ever it detects the slightest defect on your line..if you are a online gamer then ASSIA DSM is your worst enemy. People always say positive things about ASSIA DSM and to be honest I couldn't find one positive thing about it in my experience...and I'm pretty sure the majority of people on here will agree with me.

Current stats.

Will definitly keep an eye on it daily.

Thanks for the help krustyrsa

YouTube running at line speed one minute, than running at 1mbps the next.
Mweb sites inaccessible again.

Ticket: LDB-715-84425

Afrihost will blame something on my side, I can bet on it.

Would you be able to post some tests here regarding your Youtube performance?

I've escalated your support ticket to our Critical Care Team.

Not seeing much wrong here... The latency shown here indicates the connection breaking out of our network and going overseas.

Sorry on my phone now, not near a PC.

It would seem all my issues with YouTube and Facebook are tied into the Peering between Mweb & Afrihost not working.
When I can not access Mweb Sites, YouTube buffers and Facebook is slow, yet when I can access Mweb sites, YouTube and Facebook are fine.

All Facebook and YouTube traffic does go to Mweb CDN clusters which makes sense.

But why after 9 days of posting tests has nothing been done? I thought that is why you guys are here?

P.S. this is affecting ALL of my Afrihost accounts, not just the two mentioned in the ticket.

I don't believe you it is to google and it going up 162 ms when leaving nerotel and going down to 50 ms the problem is the brake out from nerotel to local google

Hop 7 is the international break-out, that's the point at which the routing hits one of the overseas cables.

AfriFella asked our Critical Care Team to contact, you should be hearing from them today. They will definitely be able to get to the bottom of this and figure out a way to resolve this.

I was in the same boat for months.
Friday night get home and internet speeds down the toilet.
Raise tickets, submit tests ad nauseum only to get a offhand reply on monday morning to say all is working ok + ticket closed.
Come friday - same story again...

Always the line and router that are at fault - showed screenshots and photos of same router connected to a different line giving same issue - critcal care team guy responded that the router settings must be wrong.
Explained i tried with 2 different routers and both devices work 100% with different ISP accounts - get told it is a telkom issue + ticket closed.

Funny thing is my line has been working without any major outages for 8 months now after switching to another ISP *whistle*

Save yourself the headache and vote with your wallet. AH is not the company it once was.

Trust me, I am very close to leaving now, if I get any response saying the problem is not on their side, me and my R14000 per month are going else where.

Edit: Surprise, I just got told it is a routing issue, and basically nothing can be done.

I don't think the issue is on your side at all, but as I said, our Critical Care Team will get to the bottom of this. I have a feeling it's a peering link that's being de-prioritized during peak hours, which shouldn't be happening.

All 9 of my Afrihost accounts experience the same problem, across 12 DSL lines.

So who knows, this might be why Facebook is sooooo slow and standard bank takes forever to load.

Which would mean I have had this problem since day one.

I am happy for Afrihost to remove all my current accounts and generate brand new accounts with new usernames.

If it's a routing issue, using a different username won't result in change in performance. We'll need to get our Upstream providers to either update the routing, or implement an alternative.

just because you having an issue, doesnt mean everybody else is. Im okay, and im also in Cape Town using a capped account. All this "Afrihost is not the company it once was" is a bit overly dramatic. As i said in a previous post, go onto the Web Africa, Vox, MWEB etc threads, and come back and tell me if everything is rosy over there. Every single ISP has been having issues, not just Afrihost.

The gents from Afrihost on here has been nothing short of superb, actively trying to assist as best as they can in a decent and professional manner.

You can now have a go back at me :D
